    Who are the teams actually bidding on Cruz? Obviously nobody in the NL Tigers and Royals seem like a No Cleveland is a no because of $$ and Encarnacion Blue Jays and Orioles seem like a No Angels don't work because of Pujols Seattle's a no since they are selling off That leaves: Houston Oakland - Khris Davis block? NY - Giancarlo did a lot of DHing last year Boston - Probably out because of JD Tampa Bay Minnesota Chicago I'd say let this one play out for a while.

    I feel like you guys were arguing two different things, but those two things are close enough to each other that you guys couldn't quite distinguish between them a) John was arguing that Ownership isn't putting it's best foot forward (Rays being the prime example). And that counts as "not trying" b.) Aaron was arguing that team management (GM, CBO, etc) was still actively trying to win as many games as possible given the restrictions from above. And that does count as trying. The Rays GM (or whatever his title is) clearly wants to win as many games as possible, but is forced to do some things that hinder that. Whereas the M's and Diamondbacks GMs are actively making their team worse (albeit for a long-term reason)

    My understanding of Greinke’s contact is that he’s only owed around 14.5m next year, which is the same as Goldschmidt. So technically, that would still leave quite a bit of room in the 2019 budget.

    I don't see $50M as anywhere close to all in. $50 leaves us short of last years payroll. "All in" to me is like $10M higher than last year's opening day payroll, which would be like $65-$70M spent Though I do agree that $50M well spent could get us close to having a contender.

    Tyler Wells not being on the Prospects Live top 30 list was a miss. No matter what you think of him in terms of ceiling, once you get to AA and are putting up really good numbers it's pretty hard to justify not being in the top 30

    With the win, the Twins finished with the same home record as the Indians and have a better home record than Houston. 7th best home record in MLB

    I bet there will be a few very aggressive prospect rankings for Kirilloff this winter. Top 20 The mid-season ones were before he did the same thing at High-A as he did at Low-A.

    Maybe this has always been obvious to everyone but it just sort of dawned on me. We talk about how most batters need an adjustment period to adjust from seeing minor league pitchers to seeing major league pitcher. That makes logical sense. Major league pitchers have faster and nastier stuff. So wouldn't it stand to reason that a catcher would need an adjustment period to CATCHING major league pitching? Faster and nastier makes it harder to catch and block, not to mention the idea of calling the pitches for someone with faster and nastier stuff than you're used to catching.

    As for the date that would affect team control years.... I believe it was just before they sent him down. So, there is no date the rest of this year that would affect that at all.

    59% of homeruns are solo shots (this data is surprising difficult to find. That number is a couple seasons old and if anything I would expect it to be higher now) While 8 is slightly lucky, if that number was 7, that would be considered slightly unlucky.

    I've always wondered, when pitchers talk like that, what exactly are they changing? Thumb location? Lower in the fingers? Different seams altogether?

    Maybe because he hasn't pitched much the last couple years, he will "age" slower

    Not to mention they changed the rules on him after the fact. That hardly seemed fair.
