  1. Encouraging at bat by Sano there even though bad result. I hope Sano also realizes it was a good thing. He swung at a strike.
  2. Gonzalez in the top of the 8th: "This time I'm going to make sure the third base coach can't mess this up! Here comes the boom!"
  3. One big HURRAH for Dyson! I am pulling for him!
  4. If Dyson could just be even a decent reliever, it would help our bullpen so much. Good first batter.
  5. Anyone else notice how it is NEARLY impossible to defeat Cleveland! Boston had a 5 run lead with Sale on the mound and they won by the skin of their teeth! Meanwhile, someone wants to win on our team and his name is Marwin Gonzalez! Could be a great night, hopefully!
  6. Boy, how things can change in a hurry in baseball! Way to go Marwin! That's 2 games in a row!
  7. Good. We're still only a half game back after this game if we lose.
  8. Maybe Pete Rose could have made it to home plate there with his superman slide. But...no, I think Rose would have been tagged out and he would have gotten up really angry and started walking toward the third base coach.
  9. And, no, I'm not saying Rocco should be fired. But I just wonder when our team is finally going to be held to a higher standard.
  10. A lot of people like to say, and I once said it as well, that: "Well the Twins have not played badly, it's just Cleveland is playing out of this world." While that is true, it's also true that if teams like Houston and the Yankees would go through a stretch of something like 30-28, there would be serious discussions of firing the manager. Am I wrong?
  11. We have had at least 6 or 7 games where it could have turned the season completely around and we lost the game each and every time. I just doubt very much that this is our year.
  12. My personal feeling is that this team does not have that 'spark' this year that great teams have. Fun team? Yes. But would I be surprised if we finished around 87 wins this year? I actually would not be surprised. As Morneau said earlier in the game, it doesn't really matter if your schedule gets easier, you still have to finish strong.
  13. That's what is so scary about all of this. Everyone who is associated with the Twins thinks it was an acceptable decision. All I can say is they must be seeing something I did not see in that play.
  14. Now here's the right thing to say: "I take responsibility for that poor play at home. I have no excuse. It was a mistake on my part." If Diaz had said that, I would feel at least a little better. I've got to believe that Rocco was secretly not happy about that. But he certainly did not yell at Diaz because the interview with Diaz would have showed a more conciliatory Diaz as opposed to: "I"ll take that chance any day." That right there tells me that he may not have been talked to about the play, unfortunately.
  15. Diaz: "I'll take that chance any day." Translation: We're not learning.
  16. Three things about today's game: 1. Ehire Adrianza is not a very fast runner. He's not. Sorry to break it to you but it is well-documented that he is not a very fast runner. Is Jake Cave still on the team? Why wasn't he brought in to pinch run instead? I know he's faster than Adrianza. This is at least the third time I have seen Adrianza thrown out at home in a critical situation in the last 3 years. I do not understand why our club thinks he is fast. He is not. He is a slightly below-average runner. That's a fact and it is documented. 2. No other third base coach in MLB sends that runner in that situation. Perhaps there needs to be some accountability for such a game-changing and possible season-changing decision. Are there any decent third base coaches in our minor league system that could replace Diaz? Honest question. 3. Cleveland is better. At first this year, I did not understand why experts were not showing the Twins juggernaut respect, but I understand now. Cleveland's pitching is elite and the Twins pitching has gotten worse since the start of the year.
  17. Broadcasters, such as Morneau, keep saying that Cleveland's schedule is going to get a lot tougher. With all due respect, Cleveland does not have to face those teams, those teams have to face Cleveland.
  18. If we're out of gas, how come pitchers like Clevinger and Bieber can throw 110 pitches consistently and not be burned out at the end of the season? A fair question.
  19. The irony of the Twins being out of gas is the FACT that there has been no team in Major League baseball that has consistently given each of their players more rest than the Twins. That's a fact. Our starters only have to throw 80 to 85 pitches a start. Our minor league system is constantly re-supplying our bullpen because our relievers rarely have to pitch consecutive outings. And there really is no such thing as a reserve or a bench player on our team as each player gets shuffled in for one another. And yet our team is "out of gas"? Isn't that interesting?
  20. Good night, guys. Early work tomorrow morning. Had enough.
  21. And ladies and gentlemen that's how the umpire shuts the door! Wow!
  22. Strike two in the words of Bob Uecker: "Just a bit outside."
  23. Cy Young not this year. But if that man doesn't win a Cy Young in the future, I would be surprised.
