  1. Too bad his name isn't Ray! We could call him the Mantra Ray!
  2. At the same time, the pitchers would be able to aim it at a certain place with certainty that it is a strike. A lot of these missed calls have a huge effect on pitchers too, it seems.
  3. Well done, Romo. Good pitchers nail that down!
  4. Is Polanco suffering from Knoblauch syndrome? Don't recall him being this bad defensively in former years.
  5. I guess I was under the impression that the pitchers would benefit. The umpires seem to rarely call the high strike.
  6. There's the Polanco we are used to seeing! CLUTCH, man, CLUTCH!!!
  7. And here comes another rant of mine: I wonder if I am the only one who has noticed a hit off a 0 and 2 or 1 and 2 pitch more often this year than in the last 25 years combined?
  8. I wonder if I'm the only one who feels like there have been more throwaways on pickoff attempts this year than in the last 25 years of my watching baseball combined? I see it almost on a daily basis around the league and especially with the Twins. NEVER ever used to see it. It was quite a rare thing actually.
  9. Did not feel like Martin Perez deserved the win today anyways. Slightly decent performance.
  10. This game is going to be tough. A 4 game sweep is one of the rarest things in baseball.
  11. We don't know that it would have cost us any runs. Pitcher pitches differently in certain situations.
  12. It sure looks like this guy needs more than 10 days to sort it out. I will say it is curious that he has been given the 'ace' moniker so early in his career. I have to ask why? I know he has good stuff, but I will say that overall, Pineda has even been more reliable than Berrios this year, in my opinion.
  13. I don't know if anyone has touched on this yet, but I wonder if putting Berrios in the bullpen would help to get his game back up to par? And no I am not joking. Last outing was disappointing as well, as he put us in a hole right away in the first inning of a very important game against Cleveland. Great bounce back road trip for the Twins so far! Keep it going!
  14. I get the feeling that the reason why they spent so much on hitting is not so much about winning titles as they wanted increased attendance. Let's face it. It has been a marketing success. I must be one of the few fans that really enjoys stolen bases, triples and great defense because let's face it: the homeruns have brought the fans out to the ballpark.
  15. Which brings up another thing. Does anyone remember around 10 to 15 years ago when our yearly goal was to make the playoffs? I would watch the first Twins telecast of the year and they would say on their pump up video before the game started: "Tonight the Twins begin their quest to get back to the playoffs." BOY, did that annoy me! No team's goal should EVER EVER be to go to the playoffs. There is only one winner in Baseball each year. Your goal must be to be that one winner. If not, why bother playing the game?
  16. These GMs must think differently than I do. If I were the GM of a club and my goal was not oriented toward winning the World Series in the CURRENT year, then I may as well resign.
  17. Isn't that what we said about Kennys Vargas? Didn't pan out.
  18. I don't make a habit of giving any credit to Gardenhire, but you do have to admit that those Twins teams of the 2000s were fun to watch. Why? Because a lead actually meant something in those days. If you had a 2 run lead in the 7th, you felt good.
  19. I honestly think it's because they spent so much money on the lineup that they did not have any more left of what was allotted to spend on the bullpen. Yes, it's true that their team payroll is rather low but I really think it boils down to not having any more money to spend on other areas of the team. If they had any money left, they would have most certainly have signed Keuchel or Kimbrel. Not signing Kimbrel is the evidence that they had no more money to spend on the payroll.
  20. To be very blunt, this season is getting really old really fast. Ever heard of carrying momentum into the next game? No? Me neither. At least not in 2019.
  21. I'm just relieved because I thought I was in the Twilight Zone for a minute there. What? The Twins are going to win 2 in a row and have a feel-good series? No, of course not. Back to the reality of the 2019 season.
  22. No, it was a strike on the border line. We deserved to lose today, that's for sure.
  23. I feel like we could be back in business after a game like tonight!
  24. We need Romo in a lot more games from here on out! If Dyson starts dealing, we have something.
  25. Great win, Twins! Thank you Marwin! My evening is saved! For a moment, I thought another evening would be ruined! Happy Day today!
