Why Marek Houston is the Twins’ Most Underrated Prospect
arby58 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
It’s still just hindsight, and he’s hardly a player to lose sleep about losing. I’ll take the over on Culpepper and Houston. Where is he gonna play then other than AAA? -
Why Marek Houston is the Twins’ Most Underrated Prospect

So we’re all supposed to applaud your foresight in not trading a player who is hitting .250 two years later in AAA? Got it - give yourself a hand. -

He’s negative WAR this year and you make him out to be a dominant pitcher. Statistic much?

We’re not talking about a one for one trade, this guy wants to redo the draft from eons ago. Who cares? I know as a Twins fan I cared about 2023, and Lewis was key to their success that year. Besides, Greene is negative WAR this year - really sure he’s not just injury toast?

You didn’t answer the question because the answer is none. 2023 was a great season for the Twins - and that year Greene was 4-7 with a 4.82 ERA. So focused on 2026? Greene has a -0.4 WAR. For all Royce’s struggle this year, at least his is positive at 0.8.

In 2023 the Twins may not have made the play-offs or had their Wild Card series win over Toronto without Lewis. The Twins were 27-26 when he was called up, and promptly went 2 for 5 with 4 RBIs in a 7-5 win at Houston. Lewis hit 15 HRs in 217 ABs, including 4 grand slams, and the Twins finished the season 12 games over .500.

Four Popular Twins Trade Targets, According To Fans
arby58 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Part of why he can’t score from the guys behind him is he’s slow and mostly on first base. It doesn’t sound like he moves the dial much for teams offense from what you’ve wrote. That is why he’s tied with Bell in runs scored this year. He’s not worth what he’s getting paid - that’s another hard truth about why he gets moved on.- 41 replies

Yeah, offense is quiet. A bat like Wallner makes more sense than Gray.

I didn’t say he was done - I said he’d be at the far end of the bench. Did you watch his ABs? Totally over-matched. He can get another chance, just not in the midst of a fight for a play-off spot. Besides 2 for 16 is not 0 for 16. How many more Ks until he bleeds one through the infield and we shout Eureka?

There is a huge mathematical difference between .000 and .200. Roden also has two game winning hits, which you can only do if, you know, you actually get a hit. This reminds me of the company losing money that suggests they can make it up on volume.

Regardless, when you go 0 for 16, you’ve had your chance. Grab a bat and get a hit or don’t. There’s no crying in baseball.

Culpepper spent a month on the IL and has just 5 games since coming back. He’s 4 for 20, which suggests he needs a bit more PT at AAA to get back to form.

Fedko was 0 for 16. That’s a player you sit - at the far end of the bench.

Four Popular Twins Trade Targets, According To Fans
arby58 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The fact they’re not trading Jeffers? I know the offense has scored 3 or fewer runs in 4 of their last 5 games, but they’d scored at least five runs in their previous six. They still have scored the most runs of any team in the AL. I’d say pitching is the need.- 41 replies

Four Popular Twins Trade Targets, According To Fans
arby58 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
76th this year, and he won’t make the top 40. Fans love him, but four teams in five years? Even after a comeback year this year, the Giants show little interest in extending him. it’s hard to continually score a runner from first base, especially when they lack speed on the bases.- 41 replies

Four Popular Twins Trade Targets, According To Fans
arby58 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It’s a lot easier to score runs when you have a high slugging percentage and/or can run fast. Neither of these are Arraez. In the three years he won batting titles, he finished 39th, 88th, and 29th in runs scored. Is that all the fault of the players around him? One of those years, he hit .354 and had a WAR of 1.1(!)- 41 replies

Four Popular Twins Trade Targets, According To Fans
arby58 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
For all of Arraez’s skill with the bat, he’s mostly a singles hitter who doesn’t score many runs. He’s second in BA and tied for 76th in runs scored - the same number as ‘fleet of foot’ Josh Bell. It’s interesting that such a high BA player is on his 4th team in 5 years.- 41 replies
