  1. Are we selling to just get rid of one year contracts that won't deliver anything except relief to the Polad's bankroll, or are we selling to get more talent in the system? There;s a big difference. If you want more talent in the system, you will need to trade the Dozier's, Escobar's, and Gibson's. I get people are frustrated, myself included, but the notion that players are "tanking" is laughable to me. They are not performing, but they are not "tanking". Huge difference. To even say they are "tanking" is an attack on the character and work ethic of those players. I don't buy that for a second.
  2. The day Minnesota starts acting like the East Coast, is the day I move.
  3. Usage is a manager question.
  4. I'm not nearly as high on May as others, more excited to see Pineda. The real fact is all these minor leaguers we had are not as good as advertised.
  5. I have zero interest in this. Flavor of the month.
  6. No way do you sell low on Sano or Buxton.
  7. This is an easy question, it's not even close. It's Sano. He provides exactly nothing to the team right now. If he can't hit, he doesn't do anything else well. Buxton can still play defense and has speed that can be used. Huge disappointment, but he has other tools than can be utilized.
  8. When they decide to sell, Belisle will be gone and Morrison will likely too.( unless they think he's a good cheap rebound candidate.) They will try their best to trade at least two of Rodney, Duke, Reed and Pressly. They will also listen on Gibson, Odorizzi, and Lynn. I have a hunch they'll need to be blown away to move Odorizzi or Gibson. I fully expect Dozier to be traded and I think they keep Escobar. They will definitely play Garver more often, but I would play Wilson fairly often too. If you are legitimately looking at pitchers, I want multiple feedback from both catchers.
  9. On the surface it seems that the Padres are huge winners here and that Cleveland was overly desperate to get relief help. However after reading how the Indians didn't like Mejia behind the plate, I'm not so sure.
  10. Grand Slam walk off homer. 4th career walk off homer.
  11. Best point of the thread imo. I don't understand the bullpen usage like everyone else.
  12. I wouldn't have brought back Belisle, however the guy is getting way to much crap for this season. Look at his outings, he's either pitching a zero run inning or he's had three outings that ruined his numbers. #thenewpunto #scapegoat #getoverit
  13. Thanks for sharing. What also matters a lot is when you are playing these teams. And what has been added or subtracted by each team.
  14. I agree with everything till you say his character has no bearing. People don't like acknowledging things like character, because there's no fancy little number to put behind it.
  15. I agree with you. I with this group, after the top couple, you may as well take the option or try to resign him at a lower cost.
  16. I completely agree on Morrison which is why I'd at least consider another 1 year low value deal if he doesn't hit 600 PA's. And considering how I expect payroll to go down next year, I don't see the team getting a top notch DH.
  17. 1. I don't trust the owners to get to the 132 million you want. 2. I'm not spending 25% of my budget on one player. That's asking for clubhouse issues at some point. It isn't fantasy baseball to the Twins. 3. No 10 year contracts period. 4. I'm not trading Romero for a catcher. 5. The pitching isn't good enough to make it past the central. Besides Berrios, not one starter is a guy who can win in the playoffs. 6. Cleveland is going to resign Allen. Maybe you can find a closer. 7. No bench bat. If you have Cave, you don't need Granite. Regardless of my disagreements, it was a fun read.
  18. I understand Slegers getting hit, I don't understand Morrison going to third. Classic trying to do too much. I'm curious to see if he can get it together and if the Twins think of resigning him. His track record says he'll be better than this.
  19. I'm a bit torn on Garver. I feel like a backup is his ceiling at catcher, he's not a prospect any longer in my eyes. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing him a bit more often. Great minds think alike.
  20. It also is under the prefix that I'm even right considering the pitchers desires. Wilson's numbers are brutal for MLB, but I don't consider him to be killing the offense. Plenty of guys are not having good years. Maybe I'm old school with catchers, I still view them as defensive players and game callers. If they can hit, it's a huge bonus.
  21. I see what you are saying, but if my pitchers are more comfortable with one catcher, I'm willing to play him. Or find a 3rd catcher.
  22. It does seem like an odd coincidence, and knowing the Polads it is believable, but they have a different job than the beat writers. They generally write opinions (usually crappy ones) not facts.
