  1. They played to win the game, they played their @sses off. They are the youngest team in college with 53 freshmen. They are missing their top 2 running backs, their top two corners, their top nose tackle, their top safety. They were down 23-14 with 2 minutes left at the #3 team in the country. So don't give them an ounce of credit, I don't care. I've been around the program since 88, I know whats going on.
  2. I don't even care to call it a moral victory etc. It just baffles me that we are not allowed to be happy seeing improvement and recognizing that the future may be a little brighter.
  3. I suggest everyone who doesn't like his "schtick" pay attention to what the team actually does. That they actually go to class, that they made a couple bowl games because of their gpa, that they are probably the #1 team in the country as far as giving back to the community and spending time with kids and patients at hospitals, Fleck will ultimately be judged on wins and losses, but non of this matters, I think people should just watch the NFL. Iowa gets a lot of mileage off of a wave. Minnesota's team actually is in the building and not looking for cheap recognition for it.
  4. Campbell is obviously doing a great job, but the Big 12 is not that great. For every Campbell mentioned, I could mention Lovie Smith, Chris Ash,Scott Frost ect. They didn't get stomped by Iowa either. They got beat, they didn't get stomped. Indiana just got stomped by Iowa. Maryland? You mean the team that beat Texas a now top ten team? Maryland is a talented football team. Maryland, the first college road trip for 53 kids? Next week is at Nebraska. A chance for a win, but Nebraska should have two wins they pissed down their legs. They are still talented too. Go gimme win, but hopefully they will find a way.
  5. I can't definitively say you need to move Polanco or not without knowing the alternatives. I do think that he is better off at second base in general.
  6. Where did I say any of that? You can't give them any credit for how they played because they lost?
  7. As did EVERY other college coach! How do you recruit kids without being positive? He also said that even though see saw improvements it may not lead to more wins. That it's a process. They have more skilled players, but they are the youngest team in college football. If 53 18 year old's go into Columbus and battle them all day long without their top two RB's, top two CB's, top DT, top safety, seems like a real odd day to be holding people to higher expectations. And to think on Twins Daily a professional team gets a pass for missing a pitcher, SS, and 3B most of the year. Bizarre to me. I've said from day one, 6-6 would be a great record for this team this year and probably next. When all these guys are juniors and seniors and we add depth, then and only then will we really have a shot at making a run at bigger things. Hopefully it will be a sustained run with chances to have big seasons.
  8. How can someone like a post more than once? The post above is spot on! The media in this town loves to rip the Gophers because it's been easy, but refuses to give them any credit on a day like today. No balance what so ever. Oh and Shane Mack was one of my favorite 5 Twins, so another like from me for that!
  9. I was at the game tonight and officially give up the resistance, all hail Astudillo!
  10. Because Gordon is struggled big time at AAA? Giving jobs to guys who don't deserve it is going to cause problems in the clubhouse.
  11. They all came back from injury, so how is it that they no longer want to play? Why would Buxton be upset about now being up? Why did Sano come back? Why did Rosario come back and clearly get reinjured? Or does he deserve an academy award? With all due respect, it sounds to me like your angry and using the injuries to fit your narrative. You are essentially questioning their heart, and I hope you have something to back it up with. The fact as I see it is they are all trying to play and are either not healthy to begin with, or have gotten reinjured.
  12. Like I said when the Twins traded Rodney, the next closer is not in the organization. Almost nightly this group of relievers are showing why the FO was grabbing every waiver guy they could. Hidly is a 7th inning reliever, not a closer in a one run game.
  13. That's fair, I'm excited for the future. This team hopefully wins 6+ games and makes a bowl game. That would be a good result.
  14. It is possible Brooks could come back for the last few games this year and with the new redshirt rules, both Brooks and Smith are planning on being back next year.
  15. And it all starts at the top. The owners are find with mediocrity for the sake of profit. Until that changes, the Twins winning any playoff games will be unlikely.
  16. Unfortunately this is what MLB has become. And while I still enjoy it, it is no where near as good a game as high school, college, townball etc. I'm 43 and having been coaching baseball over a dozen years.
  17. I have zero issue with the Twins not bringing up Buxton and he's probably my favorite player on the team. I do have an issue with how he was told and that this wasn't the first time they've had others deliver the news. That is a bit of a concern.
  18. That seems to be what the national writers are thinking as well. Problem is this week's game is a pickem against Fresno St. who is better than some Big Ten teams. Lose and the novices who figure they are on par with New Mexico St will start crowing, especially after a Reusse hack job. It should be a good game, hoping for the best. I want to see how Terrell Smith and other DB's handle better WR's. Smith looked good for game one. I also want to see a bit more pressure without needing to blitz. I also hope Annexstad plays a bit more consistent in game two. I was very happy with game one though.
  19. Their tackling was awful and their wide outs don't have hands. Winfield's stiff arm at the 20 was hilarious. Reminded me of Brooks running over the same Purdue DB over and over a couple years ago.
  20. Tyler Johnson is a stud who dropped a pass. He finished with 5 catches for 100 yards and 2 td's and didn't play much in the 4th qtr, They played 28 freshmen, I thought they looked pretty sound in that regard. Amateur gameplan? This I don't get at all. They used Green in different roles, spread the ball around to the WR's who are much better than we've had in a while. This was the least vanilla opener I can remember.
  21. Judging a team starting 4 freshmen on offense "a bit" in the 1st qtr of the first game of the year, is like deciding on a prospect after 20 at bats. You should have watched longer.
  22. It is a preseason that counts towards your record. It's also a huge $$$ deal for smaller schools. And this is not just a bowl game issue, FCS (1AA) D2 and D3 all do it. You just never hear people complain about St. Thomas opening up winning 76-7 over Trinity...
  23. I think with the way he is struggled in April, we need an "opener" for him.
  24. Bringing up Gordon, who is very clearly not ready, would be a mistake. If someone already has too much on their plate, you do not add more. He still should be viewed as the future, maybe a September 2019 call up will make some sense.
  25. I'd agree if this were football. The MLB draft is such a crapshoot, I don't care much about being a couple spots higher. I'd rather try developing a winning attitude on the field.
