  1. I think they will be fine now. It is just getting over that first inning. I also remember some bad defense the first inning of that Oakland series oh so long ago. LOL
  2. Another goof up by Julien not getting the out at 2nd. These boys are nervous.
  3. Willie will be in there later and Julien out. Hope it doesn't hurt us too much before then.
  4. This is the kind of stuff. Reason we lose 18 in a row. Come on
  5. They are cheap for tomorrow and Thursday too. These day games during the week are tough for people even if it is the playoffs.
  6. Here is what this shows and the reason we have a chance this year. DEPTH! Finally we aren't going into a playoff series with 2-3 huge holes in the lineup or in the field with only about 4-5 decent arms both rotation and bullpen. This roster is ready. Come on, let's get it boys.
  7. Pablo needs to really buckle down today. Giving up more than a hit per inning lately. I'm more worried about that than anything else.
  8. I like it. I wanted Buck rather than another pitcher, but it is, what it is. I think this is the beginning of the end for him then. Keuchel hurt, or would he have made it over one of the other guys?
  9. Go get em. Last one I was at was Joe Mays gem in the ALCS. Great atmosphere. Hope they fill the place up. I did buy 4 tickets for my college aged daughter to attend tomorrow though. There is nothing better as a fan than being at a playoff game.
  10. I listened to an interview yesterday with Lewis and was a little dissappointed. Didn't sound like he was doing all that much better. He also hinted that he doesn't want to injury himself further, worried about his offseason training, etc. I mean I get it, but what I wanted to hear from him was: "I will be out there no matter what, you aren't going to stop me from playing in the playoffs." Come on Royce we need Kirby Puckett out of you, not Byron Buxton. He will probably DH like you say. Hope everything goes well, we need his bat in the lineup.
  11. He will be starting at 3B and batting 3rd IMO. This is not Buxton or some other guy. This dude will not miss a playoff start. Wrapping this injury tight, tight, tight can help. Will he be 100% in the field? I doubt it, but he puts so many balls off the barrel it doesn't matter. Write him in the lineup until the games(if they got this way) were out of hand, then rest him. Honestly, if the Twins leave him off the roster with their best chance in years to advance, there will be revolt. I want Royce on the roster even if his best is 50%, he can hit at least.
  12. I'm not advocating for him as a starter there. MAT gets center all playoffs, no questions asked. I am saying Buxton as a defensive replacement late for someone like Wallner, etc is a huge win for our defense. MAT, Buxton, Kep, that is a nice looking defensive outfield.
  13. Hitters (12): Christian Vázquez, Ryan Jeffers, Alex Kirilloff, Donovan Solano, Edouard Julien, Carlos Correa, Jorge Polanco, Kyle Farmer, Willi Castro, Matt Wallner, Michael A. Taylor, Max Kepler Pitchers (10): Pablo López, Sonny Gray, Joe Ryan, Kenta Maeda, Jhoan Duran, Brock Stewart, Griffin Jax, Emilio Pagán, Caleb Thielbar, Louie Varland There you have 22. You can add 4 more. Lewis gets one that's 3. Kuechel or Funderbunk gets 1, that's 2, Stevenson gets 1, that's 1. So I guess it is either Buxton, Luplow, Gallo, Funderbunk/Kuechel, or Paddack.
  14. It only takes one my friend. Why when you are choosing between Byron, Gallo, or Luplow? Of those 3, to me it's obvious who should come with. That said, I might be wrong on those being the last 3 fighting for a job.
  15. What you say makes sense, however I am going to(for the first time around here), lobby for Buxton's heart, grit, etc. Maybe this is just him blowing smoke, but to me(my opinion only), this is the first time we've heard of, or seen the guy willing to go out there and play when he isn't 100%. Playoffs are funny, sometimes studs do stud things, even if their body isn't fully there. A Buxton HR late that means something or a diving catch, or stolen base etc. is the kind of thing that might propel this team to go on a run.
  16. Isn't Stevenson a lock at this point? I would say so. From what I count, even with Stevenson, in this short series, the Twins would likely have less pitching on the roster, so this leaves open a spot that is basically between those 3(Buck, Gallo, Luplow)? Someone correct me if I am wrong here please.
  17. Agree 100%. I don't want him starting. Anywhere. Pinch hit, pinch run, late inning defensive replacement(in LF, let Kep and MAT stay). Mostly, I want his energy. If I were Rocco I would tell him he won't start and will only be used this way but we need ALL of you in the dugout.
  18. https://www.startribune.com/byron-buxton-rocco-baldelli-minnesota-twins-postseason-roster-la-velle-e-neal-iii/600308395/ I'm not a subscriber to the Strib, but it let me look at this article anyway. I know this has been discussed here before, but what do people think will happen here? From how I look at it assuming Royce is healthy enough and makes it, the last roster spot is going to come down to Buxton, Gallo, or Luplow. If I am correct and it truly is those 3, I am 100% on the bring Byron with bandwagon. I DON'T want him starting games. MAT has done a great job and to be honest, this lineup has done a great job since the AS break. But Buck as a pinch hitter, runner, possible corner OFer late, etc makes some sense. I also think it could be a bit of a jolt in the arm to the team mentally, etc. having him there 100% engaged in the dugout. So, I guess my take on this is: BRING BYRON WITH.
  19. I'd keep Duran there. But I would also be ready to yank him if he goes 3 batters and walks 2 of them. He has the stuff. Big time. It's fantastic. He is struggling a little bit right now though. Probably not the best idea to change this around this late in the game. One other guy I think we are missing here though if you're talking about it is Theilbar. If we are looking at a 9th inning in need of a closer and have a few lefties coming up, I don't think it would be out of line to give that to Caleb if he is still available.
  20. This kid is not gonna let a hamstring keep him out of the playoffs. He will play no matter what. This isn't Buxton who comes up with a hangnail or "soreness" and misses 2 months. Any time he has been injured(Royce) it was serious and kept him out. Nagging stuff won't keep him off the field IMO.
  21. With you, but man if he got hot, he can carry you. IDK, I think it would be worth giving him 2-3 ABs in the first series anyway. If they don't use him anymore this year, my advice is to have him rest and not do anything until about April. Start his season in AAA in about the middle of May, bring him up for June and see if he can last the year. Flat out this guy will never play a full season. I would rather have him for the last half of the year than the start. PS He can sit on his couch all winter, put on his oculus and do some WIN reality. Learn how to pickup spin. He is terrible at it and it leads to a zillion K's.
  22. I am not surprised at all. He has rested for like 2 months. If he isn't going to be ready now, he never is. I am with you on good vs bad Buxton. The fact of the matter though is, Buxton has always been streaky because he is 100% a guess hitter. He flat out has a hard time picking up spin out of the hand. This leads to peaks and valleys in his hitting. I'm hoping for him to come back and peak.
