  1. I disagree; not alright. To get shutdown on offense against an elite pitcher is understandable; but they're repeatedly getting shutdown by < average pitchers. Feels like no heart.
  2. Yes, it seems like numerous promising prospects end up at the AAAA level.
  3. "There were some good things in the first half of the game"? Wha?
  4. You make some good points and Souhan should be more careful. But some of this seems just personal between you and him. But I can understand that. I have the same type of issue with Berardino. Some people think he's great but I haven't paid any attention to him since he sucker punched Torii.
  5. from Ncgo4: In two years he could sign a $30 million deal or be back on the island...up to him! from Leon Russell (hope it doesn't turn out this way): "And watch the sun go down (sit and watch the sun go down) Hear the sea roll in (listen to the sea roll in) But I'll be thinking of you (yes, and I'll be thinking of you) And how it might have been (thinking how it might have been) Hear the night birds cry (listen to the night birds cry) Watch the sunset die (sit and watch the sunset die) Well I hope you understand I just had to go back to the island."
  6. Seems like he's missing a number of pitches that are in his wheelhouse. When he gets hot he rarely misses that high and inside pitch.
  7. Frustrating and bewildering point for me. How many times do we get men on second or third, or both with zero or one outs and we can't advance those runners? Even if someone gets out they should at least move each runner up a base; that's basic baseball. In Sundays game we had 2 on and no outs only to have the next three strike out. Why such poor execution?
  8. I take it you meant May 29th instead of March 29th at the beginning of your article (not meant critically)
  9. Buxton swinging into a pop-out with the bases loaded because of two straight walks and a hit batter and a ball one count to him is incomprehensible.
  10. Not sure what to do. There are just too many players right now playing so epically poorly...
  11. Frustrating to watch Tanaka get batter after batter out without having to pitch a strike. However, he was very accurate on the corners when he did pitch a strike.
  12. SSS, but the Twins weaknesses are being exposed. Hitting at the catcher position, backup outfielder, DH, 5th starter and bullpen.
  13. I like Grossman as a hitter (when he's not in a slump) but why Grossman is playing outfield instead of LaMarre is the puzzle for me. I know the Rays had a right-handed pitcher, but right now I don't think Grossman is even hitting .100 and Lamarre seems to be hot, not to mention a better outfielder.
  14. Rosario fan here. In most situations I'd rather have an outfielder go for the catch even if an occasional ball gets by him. I see too many where a ball lands in front of an outfielder who doesn't even attempt a catch. However, he's better than what he showed on his attempted catch by the wall; he missed a potentially catchable ball by a good couple of feet. Seems like he should have at least had a glove on it. And Buxton hasn't had all good at bats but it seems like he's hitting into bad luck when he does barrel one up (liner to short and potential hr just foul).
  15. Well written and fair--and sad. Look what it takes to draft and develop a player like Dozier. Look at all his contributions and pay him fairly. Anyone else they can get to man 2B the next few years will fall short of his production. Also, to those expecting a quick decline to his production because he is 31, he is likely to again prove the doubters wrong.
  16. Dozier has progressed with the bat and power more than anybody expected. After taking care of that issue, the next criticism was his defense, especially his range. Now he's done something similar, raising the level of his defense. That reminded me (sorry, showing my age here) of a comment Bud Grant once made about Viking running back Dave Osborne. A criticism of Osborne was that he didn't have the great natural speed of most NFL running backs. Yet he became a great running back. Anyway, Bud said something like Osborne was the only person he'd ever coached who could will himself to run faster. Heart is as important as talent and tends to raise everyone's level on the team.
  17. Someone, some prospect, or Dozier, should start working on playing 3B.
  18. Let's think about this: Can his character and leadership be replaced soon? No Can his power/bat be replaced at this position? No Would he be considerably better at this position than any prospect over the next couple of years? Yes Would the Twins be worse off without him? Yes Is the Twins window open the next couple of years? Yes Could the Twins save considerable money going with a good young prospect and not signing him? Oh yeah! I'm surprised with the amount of criticism we have on this site of the Twins not willing to spend money to field a winner that people don't realize what we have in Dozier.
  19. What you see is what you get with Dozier. If you want BS, talk with someone else. Refreshing.
  20. He's redundant hitting left handed; we could use him as a right handed hitter but he can't hit right handed.
  21. Dozier is the kind of person and player that'd be nice to have as a Twin for life.
