  3. I can't stop you from running ad blockers but don't expect me to help you troubleshoot a problem, either. It's only fair.
  4. Not all of the standards. IE11 is better but still not particularly good. It still scores at or near the bottom in standards compliance. But mostly, problems are caused by speciality code written for previous versions of IE that were flat out broken and bad... The site is littered with special code for IE8-9 just to make it work. It's going to be a long time until Microsoft earns back any good will from developers for the decade of misery they've caused us as a whole. And they'll continue to draw developer ire as long as they continue the asinine policy of tethering browser version to operating system.
  5. You have no idea how excited we were to be able to send the guys out to Ft Myers this March. Great job by Seth, Nick, John, and Parker. I think it's safe to say we'll make this an annual event from now on.
  6. The A's gave Adam Rosales, a 30 year old journeyman middle infielder, 150 PAs last season. He had a .583 OPS and a 0.1 WAR. The As and Rays are good because they have 10-15 average to above average players on the roster. The Twins are bad because they do not. Slots 24 and 25 aren't making or breaking anything. At best you'll get 1 WAR from a 25th man in a breakout year... If he was capable of more than that, he'd be a starter, not the 25th man.
  7. No worries. Unfortunately, I can't control a browser's local cache. Stupid browsers.
  8. Yeah, Internet Explorer is a continual headache. Currently, the site *should* automatically force users into a compatibility mode but it may not work 100% of the time.
  9. What version of FF are you using? And have you refreshed using ctrl+f5?
  10. Strange. I know the site has been suffering from temporary slowdowns lately due to traffic but I haven't seen any timeouts in the past few weeks. I use Chrome as my main browser. Anyone else seeing similar issues?
  11. You're going to have to be more specific than that.
  12. Heh, no. I'm simply pointing out that I believe much of the much of the anger being displayed here is bit misguided... Bartlett isn't the issue. Nearly everyone in front of him is the problem. As a 25th man, he's not the worst option in the world IF he can shake off the rust and hit a little. But the guy should have a leash that is about an inch long. If he starts off 1-20, he needs to go. Immediately.
  13. I'm not going to pile on the front office for choosing the "wrong" 25th man because, frankly, I don't really care. It's so far down the list of issues on this squad that complaining about it seems a lot like arranging deck chairs on a certain steamship from a century ago. Bartlett isn't the problem. The thought process that chose Bartlett might not even be the problem (though I'd hear it out)... The problem is that this offense is so bad that we care about Jason Bartlett. A roving 25th man who can play the field, pinch run, and maybe shake off the rust and hit a little isn't a big deal. The big deal is that about 20 players in front of him are really bad at hitting baseballs.
  14. I care more about the open 40 man roster spots than I do Jason Bartlett. Because the 25th man just isn't worth getting upset about in my eyes. I'm hoping they do something interesting with those open spots now that they've pruned four players off the roster.
  15. What is the 40 man roster at right now? 36? 37? Wonder what they plan on doing with those open spots.
  16. Well, it's not *wrong* per se because it's their money (and yes, I know... "taxpayer funded stadium, yadda yadda yadda"), but 5% isn't all the Pohlads are getting. The biggest ROI on sports teams over the past 40 years has been value inflation of the franchise itself. The Pohlads bought the team 30 years ago for $44m. Forbes currently values the team at $600m. There's a lot more to owning a team than yearly profits. The real money is found in selling the team, as evidenced by the team being valued at 1500% of what the Pohlads purchased it for in 1984.
  17. Given the other options the Twins had in the outfield last season, very little would have been lost by playing Parmelee. That's my point. It'd be nice to have 550 MLB PAs (of regular playing time, not herky-jerky "one game in, two games out" play) from Chris at this point to say "you're not good enough, we're going to cut you" instead of vacillating on whether he's still a prospect or not. The Twins gained all of .050 OPS points by playing guys like Doumit instead of Parmelee on the way to losing 96 games. At some point, you just ignore your record and play the guys who will force roster decisions the following spring. It would help mitigate some of the "second verse, same as the first" feeling we've had over the past three seasons. Give a guy a legit shot and move on if it's not working.
  18. The only mistake I see is that Parmelee didn't get 500+ PA in 2013 so we'd know for sure whether he was a bust or not. It was a lot season, we all could see it... So you figure out what you have instead of putting yourself in the difficult position of deciding what to do with the likes of Chris Parmelee in a 2014 roster crunch.
  19. Yep. I will not fault the Twins for making that trade even if it doesn't pan out. Of course, it would have looked a lot better if Worley didn't implode.
  20. Hyperbole much? The Twins front office certainly deserves some condemnation for the past three seasons but this same group of people is what brought the city playoff seasons six years out of ten. I'm not sure how you can even compare them to the perennial doormats of the sporting world. For example, the team that plays 41 home games about 200 yards from Target Field.
  21. You don't need to look very hard at Ben Revere to see the massive flaws in his game. He's a speedster with no plate discipline that can barely hit it to the gaps. Not exactly a foundation-type player as his legs begin to show wear and tear through his mid-20s. Ben Revere has zero appreciable baseball skills if he loses a step. He's the type of guy you trade the moment someone offers something for him. It's unfortunate that it didn't work out for the Twins (unless May breaks out). Meh. Disappointing.
  22. Yet again, this is why I reserve judgment about roster decisions until late March. The Twins are doing what they should to clear roster space for guys with a future in the organization. Another mediocre arm goes out the door. Progress. With that said, best of luck to Diamond. I have nothing against him except his performance ceiling.
  23. I had to eyeball it. Ran through the starters from 2013, tallied their rWAR numbers. I really don't like fWAR for pitchers as a metric of past performance. Pelfrey was a bad pitcher for most of the year but because fWAR uses FIP (what should have happened if you remove fielding and uncontrolled elements from the equation), it makes him look like a productive starter. And that simply wasn't the case. If you want to suggest that Pelfrey should post a 2014 WAR somewhere around his 2013 fWAR numbers, I could get behind that argument. But in no way, shape, or form was he a 2 WAR player in 2013. Personally, for pitchers I use this: rWAR as a gauge of past performance because it's closer to what actually happened, luck be damned. fWAR as a predictive tool of future performance because it's closer to what should have happened if luck was removed from the equation. Of course, Pelfrey could post another good fWAR season but stink up the field. The outfield isn't exactly full of Willie Mays this season, just as it wasn't last season.
