  1. So, Kevin threw another clunker last night. I think his days are numbered. What's the over/under on Corriea being removed from the rotation? My guess is May 25th. Secondly, who replaces him? Right now, I'd split the odds between Pelfrey and May, dependent on how May pitches over his next couple of starts.
  2. Given Arcia's continued wrist soreness, this should come as no surprise.
  3. It is interesting that Gardy has historically shied away from the IBB without paying attention to metrics while other teams continue to use it. Then again, not issuing IBB fits in with the Twins' MO of "don't issue BB, period".
  4. Nope, just misread your post. My mistake. I read it as "they cut him in 2009", which you didn't say.
  5. Bonds was definitely walked at least once with the bases loaded. I remember it happening. Looked it up. Bonds had it done to him. No surprise there... But Hamilton was also issued an IBB with the bases loaded in 2008.
  6. A testament to just how awful the rotation was last season. Ugh.
  7. Actually, they cut him in 2010 after his fastball had dropped from 90.7 in his rookie season to 85.6 after the injury. He didn't get back up to 89 mph until 2012 with the Athletics.
  8. Here's a fun stat: In Neshek's first two seasons with the Twins, he pitched 107.1 innings combined. In the seven seasons since that point, he has pitched 124.1 innings combined.
  9. Sure. The years he was injured and pitched 13.1 and 9.0 innings, respectively. Again, you're using selective stats to prove a point you want to make instead of using stats to form an opinion. Personally, I'm neutral on Neshek and said so earlier in the thread. I hated to see him go but I'm certainly not mourning his loss now, as he bounced around and had large periods of ineffective play after leaving (hence an average of under 25 IP per year since he left the Twins). He has barely pitched 100 innings in the past six years combined.
  10. He was injured and pitched a combined 22 innings between two seasons. I'm not the one who brought up Neshek. You're the one who said he was lights out, yet he has pitched under 100 innings since leaving the team in 2010.
  11. He pitched 24.2 bad innings for the Padres, which you're discounting. The following season he pitched 19.2 good innings for the A's, which you're counting. In his second season with the A's, he posted a 112 ERA+ in 40.1 innings. Hardly earth-shattering.
  12. Not exactly. He was pretty awful for the Padres for one season and then he moved to Oakland and returned to being lights out. Same result, missing an important component in the timeline.
  13. Fair enough, those were just off the top of my head. But you can't list Silva's ERA with the Cubs and skip the two absolutely horrific years he had with Seattle after leaving the Twins. And Milton's ERA+ was siginificantly better with the Twins than it was the Phillies. ERA is a flawed stat that punishes AL pitching while rewarding NL pitching. I find it aggravatingly convenient that it continues to be used in this thread to support the anti-Anderson arguments (which I'm not laying at your feet, just pointing out how intentionally biased it makes the argument feel). If you're trying to make an objective argument, a league-adjusted metric is a necessity lest you're cherry-picking, intentional or not.
  14. To add insult to injury, the team seems dead-set on releasing every CF possible at the first opportunity. Losing Presley was a bad call though hardly insurmountable, as they acquired Fuld shortly thereafter. But to release Mastro for Fuld was just dumb. Given the situation they had backed themselves into just weeks prior with Bartlett, you'd think they would have kept both Mastro and Fuld. Like I said in another thread, I won't crucify the Twins for any one decision in this chain of events but when compiled together, they make you want to bang your head on your desk.
  15. Off the top of my head: Carlos Silva Eric Milton Eddie Guardado Juan Rincon Scott Baker (still scratching my head over why he's not employed)
  16. Fair enough, that's why we offer the ability to switch between the two sites. Though your iPad should show the desktop site by default.
  17. Yeah, same here. I've been thinking of ways to streamline that but ultimately, I just end up at "use the back button in the browser" as the answer every time. I will continue to think about it but I don't see an easy answer to the problem.
  18. That ad is going to stay, though I'm going to work on alleviating some of the irritating aspects of it... Such as a "close" button and having it disappear entirely when the screen height drops below a certain point.
  19. Hey, I'd like to ask some questions about the TD mobile experience. If you have input on what you like or don't like about the mobile theme (which is the blue/white theme seen on phones and smaller tablets), it will help me establish what to change or add in the future. 1. How often do you use the mobile theme compared to the desktop theme? 2. From a usability aspect, what do you dislike about the mobile theme? 3. What is missing from the mobile theme that you'd like to see added? 4. What mobile device do you use to view the mobile theme? 5. Any additional comments? Thanks!
  20. May is doing well in all the stats that matter. In MiLB ball, I don't feel ERA should be much of a consideration. I'm hoping he keeps it up and we see him in Minnesota by early June. Let Meyer work on the changeup for a bit and promote May in his place.
  21. The IBB has its place (runner on second or third, unfavorable matchup at the plate) but generally, I'm glad Gardy doesn't resort to using them often.
  22. I've always been skeptical of Berrios because of his size and feared he wouldn't continue to dominate as he faced tougher competition. I'm very happy to be wrong thus far.
  23. Eh, he's still tearing the cover off the ball at age 38. While Ortiz may have benefited from PEDs, I think it's hard to say his success was borne out of PED use.
  24. Well, they're still in the bind of not having enough outfielders on the roster. I *hope* that once Willingham or Arcia returns, Kubel will start getting more bench time.
  25. And out of those guys, you can only point the finger at the Twins screwing up once (though it was a pretty epic screw-up). Hunter left entirely for monetary concerns. It was Mauer/Morneau or Hunter/Santana. Cuddyer was a bad bet to keep playing well, particularly at the price the Rockies paid for him. Pierzynski... Well, that one worked out pretty well for the Twins. That leaves Ortiz. A massive blunder by any reckoning but still, just one blunder.
