  1. I don't think so. After the Hicks Fiasco™, I don't see the Twins jumping anyone from New Britain to Minnesota any time soon. Buxton will start in New Britain and probably see a promotion to Rochester in June if all goes well. That puts him in Minnesota after the ASG at the earliest.
  2. If they're comfortable moving him to the pen and giving him ~10 innings in September, I'm all for it.
  3. But if you promote him incrementally, that extension will cover an additional year. Either way, you're getting another year of prime season Byron Buxton. I want to see Buxton play as much as anybody but he's not ready. Let him force his way onto the roster in 2015.
  4. No, it won't. Buxton just barely hit AA and that promotion was fueled by the need to get him time in the AFL, not because his production warranted a promotion. The earliest I see Buxton hitting the 40 man is following the 2015 season. Maybe he gets added for a September call-up next season.
  5. I do not understand the thinking behind Meyer. May is a bit easier to understand. I think he was on the verge of a promotion but then got injured, sat through the AS break, then got rained out... It was a series of unfortunate events that delayed his MLB debut.
  6. Yep. As I said to a co-worker last week, "High A, Double A, I don't think it matters with Buxton. The kid will adjust." I'm not the least bit worried about his "lack of production".
  7. I also would have liked to see those two up but May is up now and will get plenty of experience. Another month probably wouldn't have made a difference for 2015. Meyer is a disappointment. No argument there... I would have liked to see him get some MLB starts this season and that looks like it's not going to happen.
  8. I don't understand the calls to get Buxton/Sano playing time before they're on the 40 man... Well, I guess I understand it but it's a bad move for so many reasons. These guys have floors of "good player" to ceilings of "megastar". You simply do not waste the service time of those players to appease a flagging fanbase. You throw away a year of service time of those guys and you're potentially throwing away $30m seasons from each. That's a potential of $60m. That's silly money. You protect the hell out of those guys and their service time.
  9. Except that the Twins had few/no viable prospects to promote at that point... The concept of a rebuild is great but the team needs prospects to make it work. The Twins didn't have enough in the high minors to start any kind of legitimate rebuild. Could they have traded Willingham? Maybe. Would it have made a difference in 2012, 2013, or even 2014? Probably not.
  10. I hear this often and I don't get it. Oswaldo has an OPS+ of 96. Yeah, he's awful against lefties (as are many LHB, especially 23 year old LHB) but he hits for enough power to stay relevant. He's only going to get better by playing every day as he has absolutely demolished AAA pitching multiple times. Maybe he turns into Jacque Jones. That's not such a bad thing but he has the ability to be more than that and the only way the Twins will find out is if they throw him out there every day.
  11. I don't believe Escobar should be in the mix next season, I think he has earned the starting shortstop job next spring unless something drastically changes in the next two months. It's hard to say anything negative about the guy. He has exceeded every expectation I had for him going into the season.
  12. I'd say that spam has marginally increased but not to an extreme. Report the violator using the report functionality and a moderator/admin will deal with it immediately.
  13. The first two months were a treat. The middle two months were painful. The last two months look to be intriguing as the kids get to play. Overall, I'm moderately happy with the season. The team looks like they'll finish 5-8 wins better than 2013. A solid improvement but not spectacular. Super positives: - Danny Santana - what the hell, kid. Didn't anybody tell you that you weren't supposed to hit? - Eduardo Escobar - doubles machine with a decent glove. Positives: - Hughes. Quite good but I expected him to be pretty good. - Plouffe. He's a competent starter now. - Suzuki. Great season, still question whether it can be done again.
  14. I agree that it would have been nice to see the youth movement start earlier but the Twins simply didn't have the horses to do it. Kyle Gibson and Aaron Hicks were the only guys who had a shot last year and one of them bombed out of the league spectacularly while the other was merely awful.
  15. I started work on something just like that last night. Haven't gotten it working yet but I expect to have something put together within a week or so.
  16. Another nice pickup by Ryan. Damn, the dude can wheel and deal. I had given up hope on getting anything for Willingham.
  17. It's one of the higher priority items on my list, I just haven't gotten to it yet.
  18. It's refreshing to have interesting players to watch in August. A couple of days ago, it was May. Now it's Milone plus Mauer returning to action soon (if not today).
  19. Mobile usage continues to rise. While not ALL functionality needs to be available on mobile, it's a good idea to make mobile as flexible as possible. I bet there are some users out there who ONLY use the site on mobile.
  20. You can do whatever you like with the coupon, Dave. You can send it to Governor Dayton for all we care.
  21. Oh, I added a Your Profile link at the very bottom of the mobile theme. But now that I look, there is no edit button. I'll add it to the list.
  22. Ashbury, I bumped your post count. You can now change your title.
  23. Nailed it. You cannot change your member title until you have 250 posts (it was 500, bumped it down to 250).
  24. Not a bug. It was a difficult design choice I had to make based on our analytics numbers. The older 320x480 iPhone/iPods are rapidly losing traction with our userbase. Unfortunately, it means the mobile site doesn't render very well on older iOS devices but given the number of users we have on those devices, it didn't make design sense to cater to a device that is used by so few members.
  25. As for the sign-in sign-out issues with Chrome, I believe I found the issue. There are multiple installs of this software on the server and I believe it was causing conflict between cookies. I have added a cookie prefix to the installs so the cookies should operate as expected, though you may need a browser cache clear to entirely fix the problem.
