  1. Sure, but it's also possible, maybe even likely, Nolasco was "more ready" to go in the first week of March so they just pencilled him in a day earlier than Duffey. I just don't see teams thinking that far ahead when guys are going 2-3 innings and barely getting warmed up.
  2. Do they really plans things out that carefully, though? They definitely plan for Opening Day and the home opener but I can't imagine they spend much time thinking about who lines up #4 vs. #5, especially in early March.
  3. Yep. Dozier has an OPS+ of 108 over the past two seasons. It's hard to find season-by-season data but second basemen historically average an OPS+ between 85 and the low 90s. That means Dozier is 15-20% better than the average second baseman.
  4. I'm interested why so many are commenting on the "leash" given Milone... Maybe it's just me but I have far more confidence in Milone pitching at an acceptable level than I am Nolasco doing the same... Hell, I'm more confident in Milone than I am Duffey as well.
  5. WELL THEN YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE POSTED IT Finished Daredevil over the weekend. They made my love the Punisher. Tip of the cap to the creators. I'm not going to see BvS until it hits the cheap theatres. I can't give $10+ to see this movie.
  6. 1. I didn't use his career numbers, as they don't reflect the hitter he has been for over 2 1/2 seasons. 2. OPS+ does not adjust for position, which kinda renders it moot when using it as a baseline for "average hitter". Brian Dozier is one of the better-hitting second basemen in MLB. I'm not overrating Dozier. I think he's an above average player. A very good player overall because he's fundamentally solid in so many aspects of the game. It's you who continually underrates him by suggesting Dozier is inferior to a guy who hasn't cracked even a .750 OPS in AA.
  7. The caucus process is much more involved and requires a time dedication many can't or won't participate in. That means the resulting people who participate are more involved and probably more idealistic in nature. That's right in Sanders' wheelhouse. The caucus process generally dissuades moderates and independents from participating at all, the most pragmatic section of the voting base. That's right in Clinton's wheelhouse.
  8. Glad to hear it. Meyer should get every opportunity to start before relegating him to the pen. It might be a different situation if the Twins didn't already have a handful of fireballing pen prospects.
  9. And Dozier is one of those rare players whose MiLB numbers meant NOTHING after he received MLB playing time and surpassed all expectations and projections. If you get to cry foul over MiLB age seasons, I certainly get to cry foul over you dismissing TWO THOUSAND MLB plate appearances where Dozier has been *way* above average with the stick.
  10. It probably doesn't matter but this race is closer than you're making it out to be. After Washington distributes its delegates, Sanders will be less than 250 delegates (~10%) behind Clinton and will have won five out of the last six states to primary/caucus. But it will take a small miracle in either NY or CA for Sanders to become a legitimate contender. I don't see how he wins either state but I didn't think he'd win 14 states by the end of March, either.
  11. Bernie is trying to make things interesting down the stretch. He has won five of the last six states and won them by *huge* margins.
  12. I also became a fan the year before the M hat and have fond memories of those teams. But that didn't stop me from hating the hat. I was so excited when the TC made a return.
  13. Over. I think they take second behind the Astros and possibly flirt with 90 wins.
  14. Agreed. The cost is marginal to acquire that guy but availability is spotty during the season. Few teams are interested in a trade from February to June. Offseason, though, yeah. Not hard to find that guy.
  15. The Milone trade was outright theft. Guys like that aren't normally available for the likes of Sam Fuld. It was a terrible trade by Beane and many called it such at the time, including myself.
  16. Interesting. I expected Quentin to stick around until the very end.
  17. Geek fight. Nerds are something entirely different. If you want to argue the benefits of PHP vs .NET or string theory, that's a straight up nerd fight. Geeks are fans. Nerds are smart.
  18. My wife is a lawyer. You're not wrong. She winced through many scenes.
  19. Well, it didn't help that Marvel turned one of Iron Man's few truly great villains into a sideshow in IM3. One of Marvel's few missteps thus far.
  20. Bernie is a friend to all the beasts of earth. Hard not to smile watching this happen. http://theslot.jezebel.com/bernie-sanders-is-literally-snow-white-now-1767162006
  21. Dunno, The Hand is amazing and plays a role that Nolan kinda aped in Batman Begins. DD has many stories that rival Batman and I'm saying that as a giant Batman knob. Batman has a fabulous supporting cast, though. Maaaaaybe the Fantastic Four rival him? FF has amazing villains. It's too bad the movies have been unwatchable.
  22. That's my guess. He's the big missing piece in DD lore thus far. Haven't finished season two yet but Bullseye plays a *key* role in DD lore that I don't believe the show has tapped yet... I'll skip spoilers for those of you not familiar with the book.
  23. I don't see Milone being a particularly effective bullpen arm, even as a lefty specialist.
