  1. I was actually in favor of moving Milone this offseason to get May into the rotation.
  2. My sentiments exactly. I'd prefer to see May in the rotation but I'm not willing to throw away Milone to make it happen.
  3. Pics or it didn't happen. WAIT, NO. I TAKE THAT BACK. NO PICS. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE NO PICS.
  4. I have digital copies but my paper copies were lost in a fire a few years back. I read most of my comics on an iPad nowadays anyway.
  5. Not to get uppity, but how is Daredevil boring? He has Elektra, the Kingpin, Bullseye, Stick, The Hand, etc... Daredevil was also the origin of the Purple Man (Killgrave), though the character was left largely untapped until Bendis put life into the character in Alias. Daredevil actually has a pretty long, rich history of stories once you get past the laughfest that was the first 20-30 issues of the book (which were absolutely hilarious... Stilt Man? Are you ****ting me?).
  6. Actually, the DD show isn't doing anything new with the character. It's pulling directly from Frank Miller's 1979-1984(ish) run, which established the modern version of Daredevil we think of today. Miller then later went to work on Batman and reestablished many of the tones we (again) associate with Batman (such as DKR, the book this abomination of a movie is loosely based upon... He also wrote Year One, Batman's "definitive" origin story). But he did it on Daredevil first.
  7. Wow, I'm going to take the over on a Seth prediction. I expect Escobar to fall somewhere in the low 700s. Maybe .720 if I had to put a number on it.
  8. Heh, yes. A bad/mediocre slider is simply a slow fastball that moves a little. A good slider is something else entirely.
  9. I haven't been following this issue closely. Is Scalia still dead?
  10. Agreed. I'm tired of hearing Bernie supporters bitch about super delegates. Super delegates are in place to avoid the situation happening on the other side of the aisle right now. I can't believe people are so dense they don't realize the safety net they provide the Democrats (even though I don't necessarily agree with what's happening with the supers right this moment).
  11. I think we have a tendency to assume the average American is paying attention to the election as closely as we do on this thread when that isn't the case. Sure, Bernie has a strong internet presence due to his rabid Internet-savvy following but there are millions of Americans who consume news through different channels. For example, has Bernie's message really spread in California for those who aren't looped into Internet news? I doubt it. They won't really get his message until he makes public appearances in CA (and is covered by local news/newspapers) and runs television ads that increase local awareness. At some point we fall into the trap of diminishing returns but I'm not sure we're there yet, as two of the most populous states in the union have yet to vote.
  12. It shouldn't be that important but given how the Twins are (too) often slow to adjust when a guy is underperforming, it becomes a big deal.
  13. Bernie has accumulated 43% of the electoral delegates tallied thus far. He won two of three states and gained 20-something delegates on Clinton yesterday. Will he win? No. But if you think he's not getting his message out there when he's collecting nearly 45% of the Democratic votes, I don't know what to say. Many Bernie fans may be delusional - god knows, I've had to block three of them on Facebook in the past month because I just couldn't take it anymore - but it's also delusional to think a guy who is grabbing over 40% of the party's votes isn't spreading his message with each additional win or near-win.
  14. So what? In pure election delegates, he's running pretty close behind Hillary. Will he win the nomination? No. Does that matter? Not really. Considering how it's beneficial to Hillary to have a reasonable candidate to debate and keep energy high in the base, I don't understand why some Hillary supporters are in such a tizzy about Bernie staying in the race. It's good for the party and it's good for Hillary.
  15. Is Bernie a one-trick pony? Kinda, and that's why I question whether he'd be a good president. But that's okay in a presidential primary. He's stumping consistently on a few issues that matter to his base, issues Hillary has been weak on for years. And Bernie being in the race is good for Hillary. If Bernie conceded today, all press coverage would shift to the GOP sideshow and Hillary would go dark until the convention. That's a losing situation for the Democratic Party as a whole. There's nothing immoral about stumping on what you believe might help America, provided you do it in a respectable, presidential manner... And Bernie has done just that. He's trying to steer the conversation toward his issues and has done a respectable job of accomplishing his goal. And he's doing it entirely on private donations, which means his message resonates with a large group of Americans. In today's lobby-centric political machine, I don't see how anyone can view that as a bad thing. People are acting as if Bernie has 150 delegates. Proportionally speaking, he's closer to Hillary than Cruz is to Trump, yet no one is calling for Cruz to bow out of the race.
  16. I think it's an important campaign to run, even if he has little to no shot of winning the nomination. The Democratic Party needs a real leftist candidate to remind the party they have a base and it's not happy with how things have turned out over the past decade. Bernie Sanders is reminding the party they've drifted to the center on almost all the issues and many people aren't happy about it. And Sanders, unlike you-know-who, is running an issues-focused campaign without bluster. He's making a point and it's a valid one.
  17. How could you forget about Adam ****ing Kennedy?
  18. When the team is winning less than 70 games a season, does it matter? I'm not in love with either player but stashing a Rule V guy on the 25 man is the kind of move bad teams should make. It's not like they have anything to lose, really. Though obviously I question whether holding on to Graham once the Twins became competitive last season was the smart move. But Pressly, yeah, whatever. It didn't matter.
  19. I think Dozier will fade in the second half again but probably not as badly as he did last season. The first half of his season won't be as good as last season, either... Basically, more of the same from Dozier. A .750-.770 OPS, good defense, and a very good overall player.
  20. Oh, that defensive alignment would be terrible, of that I have little doubt... But it might work in the short-term. It's not what I'd like to see but it might be in Buxton's best interest, which should be at the front of the team's mind. And it also fixes the Arcia/Quentin problem in the short-term. The way Carlos is raking this spring, it's hard to leave him off the roster. I know, Spring Training SSS and all that but damn, the dude is flat-out raking. And yeah, Suzuki is "starting" right now but I doubt the Twins traded for Murphy with the expectation Kurt would be squatting behind the dish four times a week in August.
  21. I'm wishy-washy on Buxton. It's likely I'd send him to Rochester but I haven't seen enough plate appearances this spring to know for sure. And the Twins don't *have* to start Buxton. They can slide Rosario to center and field a subpar defensive alignment for a month or two while he gets it together. As for Murphy, I'm far from sold on the guy. I didn't particularly like the trade when it happened... But he filled a need. Now it's on the front office's shoulders to prove they picked the right guy.
  22. If I traded Trout, I'd basically demand the other team's farm system. Picking up MLB players in a Trout trade isn't a rational option unless you can flip those MLB players for more prospects. If you trade away a talent such as Trout, you need to start over entirely. Raze the MLB team and start over from scratch.
  23. 1. I'm not giving anyone the benefit of the doubt, I'm merely saying "the proof is in the pudding". Results will dictate the success/failure of the trade. 2. You're still trying to make the conversation about Terry Ryan, not JR Murphy.
  24. I'm not going to participate in another Terry Ryan thread. Keep the subject on catchers, shall we? You didn't even bother to quote the second half of my post. We've been on the Terry Ryan merry go-round plenty of times already.
  25. Most of those trades are ancient history and others didn't happen under the current GM's watch. Nolasco was a bust and Liriano was turned into Escobar before he walked into free agency. Those other deals were mostly bad but I'm more interested in what has happened the past 2-3 seasons, not what happened 8+ seasons ago. Ortiz and Young conversations are non-starters because they literally have nothing to do with the 2016 Twins. By all accounts Murphy is supposed to be decent behind the dish. The most likely outcome for both Hicks and Murphy might be bench role players. At that point, can we really criticize the trade? It's a fair talent swap: backup catcher for backup outfielder. If Hicks can't figure out righties, his value is marginal, and that's being generous. A guy who hits 70% of MLB pitchers at a sub-.600 clip is a bad baseball player, it doesn't matter how good he looks in the outfield.
