  1. A solid quarter of my FB feed have been crickets on Trump for two weeks running. Interesting, as they were the same people who screaming endlessly about emails six months ago. I don't even really care about Flynn and his phone call. As for Trump and Pence, I almost expect them to cover for Flynn in that situation. What really bothers me is the solidifying evidence of a connection between Trump and Russia and that's been bothering me since the hacking. If there's even one solid connection between the hacking and Trump, his ass needs to be thrown in ****ing jail. That's straight-up treason.
  2. Ahhhhhhhh, gotcha. That makes way more sense.
  3. Never mind that Rand Paul is Senator for a state that sucks money out of the government for healthcare. It's almost like we should just let all those dumb ****ers die or something.
  4. Out of curiosity, what is there to like about HP? I mean, their stock was so low that it was a decent buy to rebound but no fuggin' way would I longterm invest in that company. I'm soft on Apple and I'd invest in them ten times before I dropped a penny on HP. HP is a 15 year long **** show that peddles 20th century hardware 17 years into the 21st century. They failed to capture ANY emergent technology during the run into mobile and the cloud. They're a decent rebound stock but I have zero faith in their ability to be anything more than what they are. The type of stock you get into when they bottomed out at $10 and get the hell out at $18.
  5. BYTO was folded into TD a little under four months after the TD launch (mid-June). It was pretty fast and furious there for awhile. I thought it was 6+ months but we must have been in discussions to merge the site within three-ish months of TD's launch. It took me at least 2-3 weeks to begin preparations to fold BYTO into TD.
  6. All five of us are writing an article leading up to the fifth anniversary. As you'd expect, mine will be more BYTO-specific.
  7. After the way Congress completely folded to start 2017, I think it's going to be a grind. Each scandal will peel off a handful of Republicans who are worried about 2018. My biggest concern is that this administration won't continue being this obviously incompetent. As we've seen with Congress' capitulation to everything Trump wants and desires, any righting of the ship will likely see all the GOP drones fall back in line.
  8. Congress growing a spine.
  9. Huge shout-out for the WaPost. They've been doing stellar work over the past few months. Between the lines, you can see Bezos just salivating over the idea of his Watergate moment. And I think there's a damned good chance he gets it. If anyone is going to break a Trump-ending story, I'd put money on it being the WaPost.
  10. It's so disheartening to think that, out of all those appointees, Tillerson and Flynn were the "good" ones.
  11. "The end result of this, though, is that our opponents, the media, and the whole world will soon see that as we begin to take further actions, that the powers of the president to protect our country are very substantial and will not be questioned." My god.
  12. Holy ****. I'm literally shaking after watching this video. My god, we are on the verge of fascism. And that's not hyperbole. I'm loathe to use that word as a label but holy ****, this is mortifying. http://www.msnbc.com/morning-joe/watch/-what-stephen-miller-said-should-worry-everyone-875968067895?cid=playlist%3D480866%26cid%3Dsm_fb_mojoe
  13. Interesting. I know nothing of oil, really. When I started investing, my wife and I made a pact that we wouldn't invest in anything we find deplorable. That means no oil, gas, or banks, mostly. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't invest in Wells Fargo after the scandal, though. That was an easy 20% gain and I knew it was going to happen.
  14. I think that is expecting far too much of Molitor. We were sold a very different Molitor than what we've seen on the field.
  15. Rumor has it the Braves are in talks to build 29 additional stadiums so they have comfortable places to practice while on the road.
  16. Especially if Molitor tries to optimize his lineups and keep Mauer away from lefties more regularly. Mauer had a .793 OPS against righties last season.
  17. True, but I've never seen a scouting report that viewed him favorably. And he'd be replacing one of the better defensive first basemen in the game so there'd be *some* drop off defensively.
  18. Yeah, I don't mind taking a flyer on Vargas, as he's still young enough to be a stopgap DH. If he can post a .780 OPS, that's fine for a spell. Or if you can combine Vargas and Grossman to get .800 out of the DH spot in a platoon, that's even better. But I think that's approaching a best case scenario.
  19. You're giving up quite a bit of defense at first with that alignment. Mauer has turned into a quite good first baseman over the past few years.
  20. Yeah, but his 125 game limit was injury related. I'd like to see more regular days off, not "play Joe until he breaks down, rinse, repeat".
  21. I was thinking about that as I typed the post. Would you rather have Grossman in the field, replacing Kepler or Rosario, or Robbie subbing in at DH for Vargas, with Kennys rotating over to first base? It's an offensive gain and a defensive loss either way. Vargas is less damaging at first than Grossman is in left, though Mauer is much better against lefties than Rosario. I don't know if there's a right or wrong answer, really. edit: I take that back. Holy moly, Mauer was terrible against lefties last season. I thought his OPS was over .650, not .610.
  22. The front office has to realize Joe is no longer a 150 game a season player, right? I wouldn't call for a strict platoon but I'd be sitting Joe at least once a week. I'd target 130-ish games a season for him in 2017 and see what happens.
  23. Ah, of course.
  24. I agree that starting a runner on second is a terrible idea but I still don't have any problems with the IBB being changed. It's just such a trivial thing to me.
