  1. Whoa, nooooooooo way on that. Degrom is a great player, no doubt about it. But I'm not giving up half the farm for a guy paid fair market value for his services. If Degrom was still in arb or signed to a team-friendly extension, maybe... but not at $25-30m per season. Also, he's not young.
  2. Kepler is pretty critical for the offense but I think the net gain is larger with an addition to the pitching staff, particularly the top of the rotation. Either way, unlikely to happen so it's really a moot point.
  3. It'd be a good deal for the Twins (and fair talent swap, probably) but I don't see it really helping the Mets, whose current organizational strategy appears to be "light yourself on fire and run around screaming".
  4. I'm pretty confident the Keuchel decision was 100% Falvey and Levine. It aligns with their general modus operandi, especially because they didn't even make a half-assed offer to him. Everything points to them just not wanting him at all.
  5. It might be hard for them to hit top 10 very often given their awful TV contract but they should certainly spike into the top 15 regularly. That's my biggest beef with how the franchise has been run for the past... basically forever, really. Only in 2010-11 did they make any kind of effort to legitimately spend.
  6. Keuchel was the obvious get in your opinion. Big difference there. Lots of us were lukewarm at best on Keuchel, myself included. And if ownership is telling the baseball guys to go get a specific player, this franchise operates bass-ackwards. None of us should want that to happen.
  7. While I haven't been happy with the Twins payroll over the past few years, "bottom third" is kind of underplaying what they spend. According to SportTrac, their 2017-2019 payrolls ranked 19th, 21st, 20th. It's my opinion the Twins should be more toward the 14-17 range but they're not exactly the Marlins, either.
  8. The truth of the matter is that we haven't seen how Jim will react to a truly competitive team. Everything we saw in the past was Carl, except for the 2010-11 seasons. While I'm not exactly optimistic about future spending, I'm not going to complain before they give me a reason to complain, either.
  9. Endurance is different than maximum effort or peak but, yeah, there are plenty of huge guys out there who just didn't throw very hard (Jon Rauch was another).
  10. Hadn't checked on Duran's season in awhile and noticed this oddity: 3.44 ERA, 1.17 WHIP.... 1-8 record. His teammates must hate him or something.
  11. I trust neither the rotation nor the bullpen in the postseason but the bullpen is a lot easier to fix. One great arm and it's suddenly a lot better. One great arm and one competent lefty and it's suddenly a very good bullpen.
  12. A weird statement given how much better the bullpen has been than the rotation.
  13. You mean like how they tied the game with the bases loaded and no outs and then failed to score again? You mean like that? Cleveland tried to hand this game away and the Twins refused to take the W. It happens. Annoying, but it happens.
  14. Hard to read that ball but it sure looked like the wind knocked it down.
  15. While Sano has improved his K rate considerably, that PA surprised me exactly not at all.
  16. Yeah, and Sano made a good effort. Pretty quick response and a solid dive. And he was still several inches away from even knocking down the ball. The ball was close to uncatchable.
  17. I think it boiled down to "who do you want pitching for you in the meantime?" and I can't really fault them for choosing Morin for 2-3 weeks over Mejia. Ultimately, I doubt it matters either way.
  18. This is a top ten issue for me when we redesign. Maybe even a top five issue because it makes me so damned angry that not even BBCode will work correctly.
  19. Ah, fair enough. If he was warming at 3-2, that's a different story. It took long enough for that inning to develop that he would have been completely warm by the time Cave doubled.
  20. I actually don’t mind that as a reason. It’s pretty valid. My biggest problem is why you’re calling upon your best reliever to warm up in a situation where literally all you need a guy to do is pitch to a It’s not a big ask. Save your best reliever for another day.
