  1. First, let’s keep this civil or the thread will be locked. As for the comment... I just don’t see how this can be explained away. He said what he did clear headed and in a professional environment. It’s inexcusable and his apology was just terrible. “This is not who I am”. Well, I don’t see how that isn’t who he is, as he just flippin’ said it.
  2. Trying to play the short game against Buxton is... a bad idea.
  3. I so badly want to see him go out but think it’s a really bad decision to send him out.
  4. I’m not sure why people were scared of Sanó at first. He was an acceptable third baseman, is large, and quite athletic for that size. Sure, he’s going to bungle plays on occasion as he figures it out but I never had real concerns about him switching corners.
  5. Oh, good lord. I rarely complain about umpiring but this season has been painful to watch. That was a mile off the plate and the ump had called that same pitch a ball multiple times that inning.
  6. Rosario’s defensive metrics and sprint speed have been in decline for years. Hopefully last year was health related but there are definitely legit reasons to be concerned about his defense (minus the arm).
  7. Eddie doesn’t get to do that very often anymore because so few try to pull that crap on him.
  8. Its almost funny that they had plans for up to nine starters going into camp and ended up with three plus Dobnak stepping up within a week of the season starting.
  9. It’s anecdotal but I’ve seen him make plays this year I don’t remember last year.
  10. People said the same thing last year when he started so badly. He didn’t have any kind of training camp and this is his 19th game. Yeah, he looks like a trash fire. We all see it. But no one makes smart baseball decisions on a long term piece after 75 PAs.
  11. Yikes, lots of Sanó hot takes here. Yeah, he’s been brutal. He also missed all of training camp and is known to be pretty brutal when shaking off rust. It just sucks that he’s doing it in a 60 game season when every game matters so much.
  12. Well, the Royals somehow got out of that without allowing a run. Lousy baseball luck, it happens.
  13. Yep, it was solid contact. Literally four inches over and it’s a hit.
  14. Bubic is gonna have a short night if he keeps putting this lineup in hitter’s counts.
  15. Huh. Dobnak gave up a homer. I didn’t realize that was possible.
  16. For sure, and I never expect Rosario to walk 70 times in a single season. But even moving up to 50 or so would be a pretty big shift in his discipline and a strong uptick in corresponding numbers.
  17. I thought about mentioning this but his K rate is pretty similar to previous years, I believe. While that number is somewhat static year over year, his walk rate is what drastically changed to create that near-parity.
  18. An interesting tidbit. We all know that walks aren't entirely indicative of plate discipline, but Rosario's new approach is startling when you extrapolate numbers... Over the past three seasons, Rosario has averaged: 581 PAs, 29 BB per season. He currently has 67 PAs, 8 BB. Extrapolate those numbers to his three season average and it's: 581 PAs, 69 BB. If Eddie is able to maintain that rate, there's a good chance he becomes a well above average corner outfielder and could see a nice payday as a result.
  19. I actually view this differently... that the biggest screw-up franchise in baseball has been burned and now the rest of baseball will act differently. What I most worry about is the bad franchises like the Marlins, Tigers, Orioles, Pirates, etc. just give up and start acting like clowns. But step back and think about whether a franchise like the Yankees would become infected. They won't, because they're professional about their job. I think the Yankees, Twins, Dodgers, Atlanta, Cleveland, Cardinals, etc. are going to do the same thing because they monitor themselves because they WANT TO WIN. I believe the biggest problem will come from teams that don't care anymore.
  20. This virus has only accelerated our need for UBI, which the tech community has been preaching for years now...
  21. He had roughly a .100 isoD last season. Do you honestly believe that guy can't recognize a pitch?
