In the context of my "80 win team", I meant the previous year. So, the earliest the Twins could be an "80 win team" is October of 2015 - provided they win 80 games - and then make the corresponding moves to contend the following offseason. With that said, if they pick up a free agent or two and the Twins spring into contention next July, then I'm all for trading a piece or two - nothing major - to make a push for the playoffs. But now, after coming off a 71-74 win season? Nah. Too many variables, too many players that will need to step up to fill the 20-win gap to the playoffs as a legitimate contender.
