    Well, we’re here. It’s postseason time and there’s no game thread ready a few hours before first pitch so I’m typing this on my phone to get it out there.     There are more considerations here than people are giving the situation, the key one in this example being corporate broadcast channels that paid a boatload of money to show MLB postseason games. On Wednesday, ESPN will play four (!) games on their primary channel. There is a limit to how many companies were willing to pay MLB for the right to broadcast games, especially broadcasting them all simultaneously.

    Ace is so subjective anyway. Is Grienke an “ace”? I could be swayed in either direction.

    I don’t really see another way to do it. They essentially gave first round “slots” in the day, as once you commit to the Yankees getting a night game in game one, it’s less fair to flip them around for a 1pm start the following day. What happens if game one goes 14 innings? That’s a rough spot to be in for both teams. Besides, it only impacts the next three days. After that, games will likely start in the late afternoon then continue into the evening as the field narrows.

    Over the years, I've become increasingly supportive of a 154 game season plus an additional postseason round, along with changing the DS round to seven games. I don't like 16 postseason teams, that's absurd, but I can support 12-ish if they can find a way to make it work.

    There's a first time for everything... I was cheering *against* the Twins in the 10th inning once the Sox lost.
