stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 28 Posted April 28 I like the lineup. Largely unnoticed, but the two veteran pickups (Bell & Caratini) have scuffled lately. Both have a long track record of offensive competence, so it is overly concerning. The decision seems to have been made that Larnach is a LF only and that Martin is the better choice in right. Martin had an arm injury before his ML debut and much like Keaschall, was still building arm strength when he broke in. Savant has Martin’s arm strength as above average, so I guess moving Martin to right is acceptable. As long as Gray is swinging a hot bat, it is sound strategy to start him vs. RHP. Lee gets the day off today. Better weather today. I hope there are more butts in seats. Patzky, C-Gangster, Blyleven2011 and 2 others 5
HarmonK03 Verified Member Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Gray is on a three game hitting streak, so if he plays to give someone a day off that works. But I worry that his small stretch of success will lead to regular playing time when the results taper off. This is what they have done with Clemens, he had a three week hot stretch in May last year and is still getting regular playing time. They really need to decide what to do with Wallner, he looks lost. I still believe in him but I am not sure it will happen here in Minnesota even with a reset in St. Paul. He is not a young prospect anymore, if they send him they need to commit to others like ERod and only recall Wallner on a last resort basis. Bell needs to play 1B which he was signed to clear the logjam of DH types and give the deserving players AB's in the outfield. Richie the Rally Goat 1

Parfigliano Verified Member Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Morneau probably says some variation of "depth on that pitch" 30 times a game
Linus Verified Member Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Interesting aspect of analytics- no more pitchouts. No way guys would run 0-2 in the “old days” due to threat of pitchout. Parfigliano 1
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Nice job Joe. Tough hitters and he kept them off the board. Church of Kreidler and Patzky 2
