ashbury Verified Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 In other news, that Jake McGee chap seems to have some swing-and-miss stuff. (Perhaps he excels against batters with fewer than 300 or so plate appearances. )
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Since Brian's not here to tut-tut if I follow up seriously: if you're Gardy and your starting rotation has been littered by TR with a bunch of 5+ inning guys, do you turn to your bullpen this early as a general practice? (Granted, not every game has a lead at this point, but all too often our complaint has been 5th and 6th inning meltdowns.)Also risking Bri's wrath... As happens more often then not, he turned to his bullpen anyway. Only he did it without the lead. He saved one out from the bullpen, IIRC.
InfraRen Provisional Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Some timely strikeouts there by T-Bar.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 He saved one out from the bullpen, IIRC. He was Managin'. But to address your point: yeah. He's kinda damned if you do, damned if you don't, with this staff. You're right that it isn't paying off. But to ditch your starter after 5 is throwing in the towel. I can't hang him for not doing that.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I sense a lack of interest in tonight's game. Wha??!? We're up to almost 2 pg's already and it's only top 8.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 He was Managin'... ...his Facebook account.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Can't eat and type at the same time. I've been eating for 7 innings. Food comforts me.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Some timely strikeouts there by T-Bar. Also the intentional walk to get around Eva. That Gardy's definitely doing some Managin' tonight.

Me, I'm still trying to figure out how to get an electric typewriter hooked up to mine. My old manual is slow and my arthritis is getting worse by the day.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Hey its like they always say, if you can't beat em, bean em.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Hicks and some more below average defense there
CairoCrown Provisional Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Thought I'd catch up with tonight's game thread. Did not take long.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Rodney balked on strike 3 to Doumit. He never came to a complete stop.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Hicks and some more below average defense there I will admit, if the real Hicks is the one we've been watching for the past week or so, I'd be very happy about that. The last at-bat not counting.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I want Rodney to take a comebacker off the bean just to straighten out his hat.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 First game I have caught in a week or two, at least it's a good one. Edit: I don't count those Yankee meltdowns

The last at-bat not counting. It was his first at bat ever against the guy, you could tell he was completely lost for some reason
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 It was his first at bat ever against the guy, you could tell he was completely lost for some reason He looked a lot less lost than Doumit and Arcia. He actually made contact.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I want Rodney to take a comebacker off the bean just to straighten out his hat. His hat's OK. The head is off-kilter.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 He looked a lot less lost than Doumit and Arcia. He actually made contact. Doumit got a foul, sez the play-by-play.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I want Rodney to take a comebacker off the bean just to straighten out his hat.I'd settle for a comebacker off the bean that aligns it with his crooked hat.
CairoCrown Provisional Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Whaddya suppose Gardy's hotel rooms have been looking like lately? I imagine the contents of the mini-bar strewn across the beds and floors. The bathroom sink dislodged from the wall. Various amounts of blood smeared on the walls.
