Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 If managerial greatness was measured by the number of blank, empty stares in the dugout, Rocco would already be in Canton...

Fornasiere-ite Verified Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Down by two, what the heck is he doing?
insagt1 Verified Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Kirilloff really meant to strike out but he accidentally made incidental contact moving the runner to 2nd. Now, down to business. Another runner in scoring position with less than 2 outs. And the unconventional DP because a Twin had the audacity to actually hit the ball.

I would have liked to see a replay, I thought it hit something and was a foul ball

If it wasn't for 2019, 'the Anomaly Year", Rocco doesn't get his extension, IMO.
Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Can't get doubled off there, you just can't. Castro's been good for the Twins this season but that's an incredibly stupid mistake.

They aren't sitting all the time. Rocco has not once played a catcher the day after a night game this but chose to do with Vazquez when Jeffers has been on a heater. Yes, Jeffers went 0 for 3 Monday but 2 of 3 outs were over 100mph batted balls. Buxton, isn't a good DH. DH is a mental game and adjustments. If he isn't healthy after all the bubble wrap protection they have given him, put him on the IL. Get him back after ASG and play in the field. If he can sprint on ground outs to first, he can sprint in the field. Time to rip off the bandaid and play him for what we pay him. With his at bats, he should be bottom half of the order. Dead pull that K's almost 40% of time. Is that why we paid him $15MM?

Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Buxton to me is more of a front office issue than Rocco. Falvey and Levine are in their owns heads with it and in turn, Buxton's in his head. If Buxton isn't capable of playing in the outfield, then put him on the IL for however long it takes for him to either get right mentally or get physically. He's a net negative right now and the front office is allowing it.
Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Twins' pitching has shown in this series that it is good enough to win games in October against elite teams. It's a shame that it will go to waste and result in a 77 win season and in third place behind Cleveland and either Chicago or Detroit.

He can only play the guys he's given. doesn't excuse Vazquez batting there at all (or even being in the lineup, that's on Rocco).

Oh, no doubt - the roster construction hasn't done Rocco any favors but his in-game decisions continue to be head scratchers and he's a huge reason this team is bad in 1 & 2 run games.

Correa is probably the last 'big name' free agent who would actually entertain the idea of coming to Minnesota. If this Bally TV scenario bellies up, the Twins won't be getting any grand deal for broadcast rights. (Who's gonna pay a premium to watch this?) So, in essence if the Pohlads want to increase revenue they may be forced to make some changes or sell the team.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Now he pinch hits? With no one on base? Good golly miss molly.

Id compare him to an anchor but anchor's provide a needed positive function for a boat. Buxton provides nothing positive.
insagt1 Verified Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 was thinking the same. There are plenty of candidates for 'worst hitter'..I would put Gallo first on that list. Then Kepler. The booth is making it sound like just 'bad luck'. Maybe..but Twins are so screwed up at the plate, its hard to blame luck of any kind. Kepler leads off..out. Gallo--does he even have a clue where to swing the bat when he's up there? Another 'k'. No where near making contact. Quick inning. Ho hum. Orioles next. Anyone believe Twins will have an easy time with them?

Time for Buxton to look at himself in the mirror and decide what kind of player he wants to be.

Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 If Buxton was capable of playing the outfield, maybe the Twins sign Turner instead of Gallo.
