TWTwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Buxton has no strategy in mind when RISP,he should bat 789, do not live in the past, face the reality,he is strikeout-prone.

I get your point. To be fair Smeltzer pitched 3 innings and allowed one run. Our offense is putrid! 3 singles allowed in the 10th wasn't ideal either.
tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 I know that there is zero consideration, considering the game today, but why is a sacrifice bunt such a taboo when the batter is very unlikely to advance the runners? As soon as Correa walked, I'm putting on a bunt. Why? Because the infield is way back with the first baseman playing 35 feet off the bag; Texas was not prepared in any way to field a bunt. Also my hitter struggles right now. The rules say that players that earn a large salary are no longer allowed to bunt though and we have to accept it. Did anyone else notice that the ball didn't carry tonight due to the cool weather? Do you think the analytics team noted that detail?
tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Tomorrow, the Twins will be better. Right?
AussieG Verified Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Cueto at 100 pitches through the 8th up 2 - 0. Hopefully Rocco is paying attention

In fact most of our guys seem to be. Buxton hasn’t had a sacrifice since 2019 [!!]
TWTwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 There is no way that opponent face Correa when Buxton hit behind him,its a easy choice.

I actually had the same thought with both Buxton in the 10th, and Sanchez after Urshela's double. Its difficult to take the bat out of Buxton's hands, but a K is just an inning killer. And who knows, Buxton might even beat it out.
TWTwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 The lineup is even worse when your manager doesn't know how to manage it.
TWTwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 I dont know how u guys think about Buxton when clutch situation,he is really bad,I have no expectation.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Jax is showing he can't pitch with men on base in pressure situations. The Twins have to figure out how to play extra innings. I mean, we are two-third thru the season.
