You could just use the ignore function for specific users

I don't think there is a blocking function ... I'll have to look into it (or, Brock will, as site administrator). But, there is an ignore function ... if you click on your user name and get into your settings, you should see an 'ignore' choice in there somewhere. It's not the same as 'blocking' as the other person can see your comments and respond to them, but it does help.
