What this team needs is another (roid-version) Rincon in the pen, no platoon split whatsoever, no roster spot wasted on 3rd lefty.

That's Burton's role. But he can't pitch three games in a row. So, Rich Harden, when he's ready, I guess.

That's why I said another, you can never have enough relievers capable of getting hitters out from both sides of the plate.

Duensing is capable of being more than a LOOGY, but that might be his best role.

I'd argue that Duensing has pretty well shown that LOOGY is definitely his best role and that he has in fact shown he isn't very capable of being more.

Career OPS against

vs LHB: .559

vs RHB: .833

Those numbers are skewed by his time as a starter. In 2010 and 2012 when he was more often a reliever, the numbers weren't as bad (.808/.678 in 2012). I can't seem to find a way to separate both starter/reliever and LHB/RHB at the same time to see what the actual splits are when he is in relief. He did just fine today and I think he has value as more than a LOOGY.

Yes, I agree. Duensing is a versatile arm, probably best not used as a starter. He can get through multiple innings one day and get a tough RH hitter the next. He's valuable to the Twins, but could be valuable to a lot of other teams.

I didn't really have a problem with the Twins sending Robertson down. I didn't exactly jump for joy every time he came out last year, and only the fact that better bullpen arms were injured kept him from being put in AAA to start the year. Anybody know the timetables on Harden and Perez? I have a feeling our bullpen could use a few more quality guys in it.
