5 predictions- minor league style!

I saw one of these in the general twins forum but there wasn't one here for the kiddos. Just like the title says, what are your 5 minor leagur twins predictions this year?

 

These are mine, what are yours?

1) Buxton through sheer athletic ability will force the Twins to promote him to high A. He will also end the season with 10 more stolen bases than the next twins player.

2) Buxton will be the Twins minor league player of the year thanks mostly to the guy in my number 3 prediction.

3) Arcia will murder AAA to an almost illegal amount that it forces the twins to trade willingham and promote him for the rest of the year. Thus, clearing the way for Buxton to be the Twins minor league player of the year.

4) Alex Myers will finish the season in the top 10 in Ks in all the minors and be the Twins pitcher of the year.

5) Joe Benson will be a huge bust and get traded at some point to a team that will take a flyer on him. (Hey, they can't all be positive)

I like your predictions - I don't think Buxton will be POY but he certainly could be. Agree on Benson, sadly.

1) May gets a Sept call up and Meyer dominates AA and is Twins pitcher of the year

2) All Twins farm teams finish above .500 except AAA

3) Berrios finishes at A+

4) Arcia will be up within two months

5) Kepler is the break out player in prospect world and ends up in BA's top 50 next year.

I would normally disagree that Buxton would get promoted, and it still would be atypical for the Twins to promote him. Remember, Sano a year ago had a strong month of April last year, then cooled off for an extended period before heating up again. So, it's still likely that Buxton stays. However, after seeing him now (in admittedly just two good games), he's amazing talent-wise, and I will not be surprised if he does move up after the MWL All-Star game at all.

 

And, 10 more steals than anyone else? I might argue 25-30 more steals than anyone else. He gets on 1st, he goes. Antoan Richardson will steal a bunch, but I really don't see others that will come close to Buxton. AND, that includes Niko Goodrum, whose goal is to steal 40 bases this year. I think Buxton could legitimately steal 80 bags this year.

Gunnarthor- Great list with nothing I can really disagree with. Haha, I was actually thinking about having something similar to your #5 for my #5 but decided on having at least one "negative" one. I'm a Kepler fan boi and proud to admit it.

 

Seth- while I agree a Buxton promotion would not be the Twins style at all I just think Buxton is a player who will hide some of his flaws, especially in lower levels, with his athletic ability. Turn small infield hits that should be outs into singles. His 80 speed makes him a solid defender in CF even if he does read the ball well. There are a lot of "tool sheds" in baseball but I don't remember a single one that got Bo Jackson comparisons except Buxton before the draft.

Living here in AAA Rochester, I have to root for a sub-.500 team? I think not. Check out the Red Wings's roster again. There is plenty of talent on this year's team. Arcia up to the Twins in two months? I hope not.

1) People are going to be very disappointed with the results Buxton puts out in low A, even though they won't be terrible (750-800 OPS).

2) Arcia murders AAA and gets called up after a ML trade.

3) Meyer and May both take major steps forward giving New Brittian a nast 1-2 combo.

4) Benson has a nice bounce back year in AAA, but not so overwhelming that people are ready to hand him an OF job.

5) Levi Michael breaks out finally giving fans a reason for hope in the middle infield.
