Apostle43's Achievements

  1. Living here in AAA Rochester, I have to root for a sub-.500 team? I think not. Check out the Red Wings's roster again. There is plenty of talent on this year's team. Arcia up to the Twins in two months? I hope not.
  2. "We could have 5 guys with Major League experience pitching here on Opening Day". I'm liking that quite bit. We Rochester Red Wing fans have long understood that our town is a place for young ball players to develop and winning comes after that. But we love rooting for a winning team as much as anyone. So having a terrific pitching staff is 75% of the battle won. You folks in Minnesota should know, though, win or lose, baseball games at Frontier Field in Rochester NY are always fun and affordable and we appreciate the fine work of the Red Wings front office!
  3. My family and I are going to enjoy the coming AAA baseball season in Rochester. There appears to be a parade of legit talent coming in to town. The Wings may have their best season in years, contrary to what you poor folks in the Twin Cites will be experiencing. Despite it all, if the Twins fans can be patient for 1 year, things look very bright for the 2014 season, IMO.
  4. Your new web site is by far and away the BEST place for information on the players for my favorite team: the Rochester Red Wings. Although I don't often log in or post, I check your site out daily. Thank you and the other members for all the thoughtful and well-researched articles. This year, I am thankful for TwinsDaily.com and Happy Thanksgiving to all!
  5. Beresford is 23 with a year of AA under his belt. In what world is Beresford "on the old side?" The average hitter in the Eastern League in 2012 was 24.6. He signed so young out of Australia which is why became a free agent so young. Most around him have always said he has a chance to be a big league regular "if he gets a little bigger." Each year, he has been able to get a little bit bigger. So, we'll see what happens in 2013. Oh my! The first thing that jumped into my head was steroids. For minor league baseball players, there is a tremendous amount of pressure that comes from trying to advance in their organization in the midst of all the competition from other players. I see it every year in the NY-Penn league in Batavia. Those poor guys try so hard, yet so few make it to the next year. In the past, the pressure led many to cheat with steroids, allowing them to get "a little bigger" each year. Thankfully, that temptation has been muted by testing. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/magazine/05/29/baseball.steroids/index.html
  6. Honestly guys, this site is great. Almost as good as the MLB Twins site, maybe better. The site is packed with the latest information from both the regular bloggers and the comments. Thank you for the time and efforts put in by all who have contributed. And GO TWINS ... and GO RED WINGS too (grin).
  7. Just because Brian Dozier is unlikely to make the starting Twins' roster is no reason to give the poor kid an "F". Hopefully Brian's self esteem will not be bruised (grin).
  8. Here's hoping the Twins stay healthy this year so that we, in Rochester, can enjoy watching these prospects develop. Rushing these youngsters to the Big Leagues does no one any good.
  9. Tory Hunter must be very proud of the man he groomed to be the next Twins center fielder. Denard Span is another big reason to be optimistic about this coming season.
  10. Whether you are a Twins fan or not, you have to just love Justin Morneau. He is one class act. His dedication to the game was shown by the work he put in this past off season. What a shame if the concussion symptoms return and this star player is forced to retire early.
  11. You wrote, "As a matter of fact, that lineup, minus Revere, might be the Rochester Red Wings starting lineup." Very, very cool. I can't wait. It will be much easier for my kids to get Brian Dozier's autograph in Rochester than it will be for you to get it in Minnesota (grin).
  12. If there are few injuries in Minnesota, then AAA Rochester is going to be fielding an exciting and competitive team this year, at least with the day-to-day players. Keep those players healthy for once. From reading your past posts on pitching in the Twin's organization, it appears that Rochester's stable of pitchers will be the weakest of all the levels.
  13. Yeah, leave Joe Benson and Chris Parmelee in Rochester so we can have a winning team for once. We know you all in Minnesota can't wait for the season to start, but we feel the same way down on the farm. The AAA roster is going to have quite a few stars in the lineup (and we pay minor league ticket prices to see them)! BTW, this new website, Twins Daily, is fantastic!
  14. Is there any way to get Twins pitching coach Rick Anderson to read this article? Mr. Hageman, your point is very insightful and sure as heck should be considered by the coaching staff. Maybe someone should mail him the article.
  15. Seth, I agree with Eagle Eyes. You said in your post, "If seven or eight of those factors wind up positive for the Twins, they have a chance to compete." I strongly believe that, if both the M&M brothers get back to reasonable form, that this team will compete. A healthy tandem of Mauer and Morneau will make a world of difference to this team, and they will carry the Twins on their strong shoulders. If those "seven or eight" factors work out, I think this team will more than just compete!
