jokin Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Would have liked to see them move on Mickey Storey (Ryan asleep at the wheel again), but here's a possible consolation prize. Saux just DFAd him to make room for Ryan Dempster. Beato is 26YO, 6'4"/220#s. RHRP with low 90s FB/90 MPH sinker, up to 96 MPH speed on the FB. Arb eligible 2015, Former Rule 5 pick. Team control until 2017, likely available barely above the minimum. High K rate and decent WHIP. Gotta be better in the BP than some of the current options such as Waldrop or Swarzak or another Gray-like signing like last year, and insurance if Roenicke/Fien/Burton falter. And this team is going to need plenty of BP depth given the precarious SP situation with the bevy of #5 level starters destined to make up the rotation.

Balt, TB and Toronto all know this is the year to go for it, given that the Yankees are so vulnerable and the Red Sox in recovery mode.
