Adalberto Mejia, LHP | 2.60 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 1.25 K:BB in 17.1 IP

Cleveland | 62-49 overall, 35-22 at home, 7-3 last 10

Additional notes:

This will be Carrasco’s fifth start against the Twins this season. So far, he’s give up 10 earned runs over 19 1/3 innings (4.66 ERA), but also has a 1.19 WHIP and 9.8 K/9 against Minnesota. Cleveland is 18-11 vs. left-handed starting pitchers this year. There should be some transaction news coming out of the Twins’ camp today, as Matt Magill is expected to be activated from paternity leave. Both Jorge Polanco (.339/.369/.710) and Eddie Rosario (.363/.379/.655) have a career OPS north of 1.000 at Progressive Field.

Annnnd we have the roster move.

As everyone expected, it involves Matt Belisle ... he's headed to the DL.

I was just going to say that Belisle’s name on the list of relievers is conspicuous by it’s absence.

Belisle is no doubt suffering from washedupitus.

I hadn't really paid attention to watching Belisle pitch until yesterday. What I noticed was good movement on the ball some of the time. No doubt that is what tantalized the brain trust into staying with him. If Belisle could figure out how to avoid the meatball pitches, he'd still be useful.

Do vegans have meatball troubles?

Do vegans have meatball troubles?

A small bit of googling reveals no more interesting vegan alternatives to meatballs than "meatless meatballs". I suspect those travel out of the park just as fast as the real McCoy..

Got it.

Sometimes literal solutions to metaphorical problems work...

In this case batters rarely are vegan, at least metaphorically.

Rain delay fun facts:  Last night Mitch Garver wasn't the only non-pitcher pitcher.

Matt Davidson of the ChiSox pitched the 9th inning against the Yankees and it was only a 7-0 score.

Davidson (who was throwing over 90 MPH at times) gave up one hit, one walk, no runs and he struck out Giancarlo Stanton on a 71.4 MPH "curveball".

PSA, if you like fantasy books, and somehow have not read Glen Cook's Black company.....the first book is on sale for the Kindle right now.

I do indeed. And is that an homage to Doyle's historical fiction?

For anyone who has been paying attention during the delay - have they given any estimates on when they expect the game to start?

Gameday says delayed....weather, or are the TWins' players still in mourning over their leader being on the DL?

You could wring the sarcasm out of that one, Mike!

If Cleveland is getting the same rain we had in Chicago, it's pretty heavy. But the satellite looks like there is a break in the clouds so maybe they will start soon.

I have an 18 in sarcasm, but I'm trying to cut back on it's use.

Game started, for anyone else who changed the channel instead of sitting through the same weather delay crap for the 100th time.

Did we win yet?

I think the lineup could be highly improved if Molly swapped Morrison and Garver in the lineup. Or maybe Cave. I can't understand why the two rookies have to bat at the bottom of the order when they're the best bats outside Rosario and Polanco.
