Clear Verified Member Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 What direction do you see this team going? Do you see us having enough Minor League depth to sustain losing player streak like, Kepler, Buxton, Rosario, Berrios, our young core. Or do we just go straight to rebuild mode after they retire/go somewhere else? Genuinely curious what you all think.
goulik Verified Member Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Retirement? Hopefully were talking so far down the road that we have been able to keep the pipeline going and have others coming behind them... That is so far away that it is impossible to know at this time. Right now we just need to build around the young core and create a World Champion while continuing to build that pipeline.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 I barely have time to ponder my own retirement. Let's try for a few good seasons first before thinking about the next dry spell.

The reason I thought Ryan was pretty good was that he was able to keep a low payroll team competitive for basically a decade because he could replace players with guys from our system. Whether or not Levine can pull that off is an open question. Looking at the low minors, it does seem like we have a nice pipeline of talent. My guess is the Twins will keep some of our young core past arbitration but we will have to replace some and how the guys in the minors are playing will help figure out which ones.
