Not Too Soon - Twins Post-Season Rotation, Roster

OK, they might blow it down the stretch and the odds are that they lose in Wild Card Game - But here goes:

I think the Twins go with a three man rotation, Santana, Gibson and Berrios in that order, within reason.   Mejia is the fourth guy when needed and Big Sexy goes to the pen.   Belisle is the closer, with Hildenberger and Busenitz as set-up guys - Rogers as LOOGY.   The final two relievers are Duffey, and Boshers.(with great worry about that last one).

The starting eight in the field,  Castro, Mauer, Dozier, Polanco, Escobar, Kepler, Buxton and Rosario.

The Bench (including the DH):  Grossman, Adrianza, Giminez, Vargas, Granite and MIGUEL SANO (remember Kirk Gibson who had just one at bat, a walk-off HR in World Series - If he's marginally healthy, Sano must be on the post-season roster!!!!)

If the Twins survive the Yankees in the one game WC, they may not be able to go to a three man rotation. Let's assume they somehow are able to lineup Santana in the one game WC. Well then, it gets a bit complicated, because Santana will need rest, and I think it is Berrios, Gibson, Santana and our scrappy but loveable batting practice bullpen.

Against the Indians, no doubt, so we might see:

Berrios v. Kluber in Clev

Bauer v. Gibson   in Clev

Carrasco v. Santana in Mn

Tomlin v. Berrios or Mejia  in Mn

and if necessary Kluber v. Berrios or Mejia in Mn

and of course, Cleveland's bullpen of Allen, Shaw, Smith, Goody, McAllister and Otero.  Not a bad bunch of arms.

Looks to be a challenging road, if we can win in NY.

For the sake of argument, let's assume we win the wildcard game. After all, how hard is it to beat the Yankees in New York? C'mon. Let's also assume CLE ends up with the best record, but it could be HOU as well.

I would like to see Berrios start the first home game as he has been significantly better at Target Field this year for whatever reason (2.45 ERA vs 5.28 ERA). Unfortunately, the wildcard game messes that up as Santana would not be available for the 1st two games in CLE unless there is some sort of delay/ppd (or he goes on just two days rest which I am against).

But, you could keep your options open. Maybe have Kyle Gibson pitch Game 1 and if they manage to win that one, then trot out Mejia or Colon for Game 2 in CLE having already "stolen" one there.

Then you could come home 1-1 (or 2-0) having your #1 and #2 guys and hopefully winning the series in four games or less.
