Randy Rosario was born May 18th 1994 and grew up in Rio San Juan, Dominican Republic. In August 2010, The Minnesota Twins signed him as an international free agent with an 85,000 signing bonus.

Rosario features a Fast Ball that averages 93 MPH but peaks out at 97. He also possesses a plus slider that is described as inconsistent. As a Lefty, many hoped he could stick as a starter but with only two pitches, he was moved to bullpen duty in 2016 fast tracking him towards the Majors.

Rosario began his professional life pitching for the DSL Twins in 2011. He appeared inn 13 games, 8 starts, accumulating 35 innings and a 3.86 ERA. It was good enough to be brought over to Fort Myers and a shot at the GCL.

In 2012, Rosario dominated the GCL to the tune of a 1.64 ERA with a 0.991 WHIP and a 9.9 K/9 over 38.1 innings. He earned his way one step up to E-Town for one more short season as a teenager still.

In 2013, Rosario started all 9 games he pitched in compiling 44.2 innings. His 1.343 WHIP and 2.82 ERA was supported by a 7.5 K/9 and a 3.9 W/9. It was time to move up another level for another year.

So after his first 3 years, Rosario had an impressibe cumulative ERA of 2.75 and an 8.01 K/9 plus he had not allowed a single HR yet.

3 games into 2014, Rosario was derailed and on the DL. He needed to have Tommy John surgery after allowing his first two home runs and lost the rest of the season and part of the next.

In 2015, Rosario debuted with a two game rehab back in the GCL before heading back to Cedar Rapids. He started 12 of the 13 games he appeared in. He allowed 21 runs in 61.2 innings for a 3.06 ERA and a 1.297 WHIP. His 7.9 K/9 was accompanied by a 2.9 W/9.

2016 was the first year Rosario reached triple digit innings even though he had been primarily a starter his entire career. It was also the year that he was moved to the bullpen after 16 starts. With 100.1 innings, Rosario posted a 3.77 ERA and a 1.465 WHIP. He maintained a 7.0 K/9 and 3.5 W/9. He also allowed 4 home runs and a career high .4 HR/9.

Rosario began 2017 by dominating as a reliever to the tune of a 1.90 ERA with 20 K's to 6 Walks and a 0.85 WHIP. He was called up to the Twins June 1. HE pitched in two games for 2.1 innings allowing 8 runs for a 30.86 ERA and a 3.000 WHIP. On the plus side, he struck out 2 (7.7 K/9) and didn't walk anyone.

Rosario is back in AA and his ERA has ballooned to 3.16 but his WHIP is still at .955. Rosario is truly a bullpen prospect that will be ready soon but just wasn't quite ready yet.

Rosario has accumulated 50.1 MiLB innings for a cumulative 3.24 ERA. He's coaxing a .227 batting average from opposing batters. His 1.113 WHIP is supported by a 2.7 W/9 but he is only getting 6.6 Ks per 9.

Rosario finishes the year having pitched 61 innings and appearing in 34 minor league games. Since his MLB audition, his stats continued to balloon. He had 1-0 record with a 3.84 ERA when all was said and done. He only allowed 23 walks while mowing down 48 batters, but Opposing teams hit .258 against him and he had a 1.34 WHIP. Hopefully this offseason he can wrap his head around what happened in the Majors and come back strong for Rochester in the Spring. I don't think this kid is done, he is just down for the time being. I predict he gets back up and we see good things next year.
