spinowner Provisional Member Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 On the way home from work I had 96.3 on the radio and Kris Atteberry said that the Twins will be stretching Tonkin out to be the long man. I guess he'd be the one they'd choose for that role by default even though I'm not sure he has the pitches for that. Usually you'd like the long man to be the one who would have been the 6th starter.
dougkoebernick Provisional Member Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Nolasco was 17th in the NL for IP in 2013, not 2nd, and his ERA- was 101. So, 1 percent below league average. In the NL.Sorry - I looked at the stat page wrong, it was games started which is quite different. My bad. But at the end of the day he was an upgrade over what the Twins had and I am of the opinion that they had to overpay at that point in time to get someone with a pulse. It was worth a shot and I hope nothing but the best for him. blairpaul715 1

One can look at how he's done for us so far and say, um, he's done pretty poorly. Oh, and I'm of the opinion that moving May to the bullpen instead of, say, Pelfrey could very well have ended up being the difference between making that playoffs and not. alarp33 and dougkoebernick 2
