BD57 Verified Member Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Good read - thanks!!! Given the difficulties of the last two years, it's obvious we have to rebuild from within. Nice to hear there are some youngsters coming up who have promise. As far as Hicks progress - - - - I have no problem with a 22 year old kid being in AA. Baseball is not an easy game to play well.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 This was very informative. Let's hope that as Hicks ages, he will continue to mature and to become more consistent at the plate. This article piqued my interest enough to check Hicks stats for this season and I would note that he has struck out 59 times in 207 ABs against right handed pitchers. Hopefully, he can improve that stat. I remember that when Hicks was drafted, some teams wanted to use him as a pitcher. I wonder whether his defense is adequate, good or great. It looks like this season he has 5 assists and 6 errors. Thanks for posting this.
jlovren Provisional Member Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 In my opinion the timing for his rise is kind of going perfectly. With the expected departure of Span (still one of my favorite players) that still leaves our outfield in good shape for the short term with Revere in center and all. However, we will need another bat in 1-3 years out there and it would be great if Hicks is the guy. Plus, as he rises so will trade offers for various players in our organization which may only help our cause.
