  1. I think he needs to start the year in AAA and see how his numbers play out before we start talking call ups. It was very impressive how he hit in AA but he is young and eeds to learn patience. My prediction is he is starting in 2014 in the bigs.
  2. With the current make up of the rotation, we do not currently have any guys to take us into the 7th-8th innings on a regular basis. I totally agree that in order for a 6 man rotation to work you would need to carry 12 pitchers. Our bullpen has been inconsistent and we simply don't have that kind of staff where we could sustain any positive results. I think we need to take a cautious approach with Gibson, Pelfrey and Harden (if he even makes the club) to ensure there are no set backs from recovery.
  3. Has Parmelee ever played right field? Would it make sense for him to start getting reps in the outfield?
  4. With the amount of money we are paying Nishi, he should get this audition for the remainder of the season. It's not deserved but who knows? It's like the old saying sometimes the sun shines on a dog's ass once in awhile.
  5. That was supposed to say forever
  6. What plans might they be? The cubs haven't won ever and the stros haven't won in 30 years.
  7. It seems as though everyone forgets what Liriano is all about. He had one good year (2006) and has never been anywhere close to that since. He had one decent year (2010) and has a ton of of up and down starts. Take out 2006 and you have a record of 38-48 and an ERA somewhere around 4.7 to 5.0. The Twins are going to save 2 million for the remainder of the year, and more than likely a lot more next year and will hopefully sign a more consistent pitcher. It is completely unrealistic to expect two B level prospects for a D level pitcher (stats alone, not potential). In my opinion, good riddance and thank you for less headaches.
  8. 6 for 12? Yikes. I know speed only plays a part in stolen bases but that is ridiculous. They need to hire Rickey henderson as a coach and teach everyone how to read a pitcher.
  9. I am not sure but it seems that he throwing a lot more sliders since May. Hmmmm.... more sliders means better pitching. Oh and massages kill grandmas.
  10. Now let's hope that he can develop some patience at the plate and get the strikeout ratio down.
  11. As long as he has gap power than I am not too concerned about the home run totals.
  12. In my opinion the timing for his rise is kind of going perfectly. With the expected departure of Span (still one of my favorite players) that still leaves our outfield in good shape for the short term with Revere in center and all. However, we will need another bat in 1-3 years out there and it would be great if Hicks is the guy. Plus, as he rises so will trade offers for various players in our organization which may only help our cause.
  13. I will be really impressed if he keeps it up through the next two levels of the minors but until then I am taking a wait and see approach.
  14. Nishioka? haha....

  16. Why have we not started more academies in other places that do not have such political turmoil? If a number of players are being signed out of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Panama than why do we not have a large presence there?
  17. My thoughts exactly. The Twins need to be all over the international players. We used to have a pipeline to Venezuela, what happened?
  18. I had already forgotten about his existence, thanks for reminding me....
  19. I guess we could do the same thing with coaches in the minor league systems. I believe that while talent is 70% of the reason why prospects get to the bigs, I also believe that last 30% is the instruction and coaching they receive. Let's face it, we have had two legit big time bats on the club for a long time with Mauer and Morneau. You have to go all the way back to Kirby to name a consistent bat before them. Are the hitting coaches, swing coaches and basepath coaches doing their jobs? My answer is no. However, let me back that up by saying I have no stats, first hand knowledge or opinions from someone inside the game to support that. Although I would like to see Seth do a piece about that.
  20. Unless we can get some seriously good value for either than we do not let our relievers go. With as bad as a pitching staff as we have we cannot afford to let our only strikeout pitcher go. They are at very friendly salary levels which will also help us out for the future as well.
  21. Unfortunately we need several of those types of drafts. The Twins need to alter their entire approach. They need to target young arms in free agency and inrternationally. If Rick Anderson is a great teacher than have him do some instructing inn the minors. The Twinkies need strikeout pitchers, that's what wins in thre playoffs.
  22. I will take his opinion over Sid's anyday.
  23. If the pitching goes from a 6 plus ERA to a 4 plus ERA than we could be contending for the AL Central title. That's a huge if, though. This kind of reminds me of 2000. Terrible team, but you see some signs of life from a few young guys and terrible pitching. Let's hope that 2013 reminds us of 2001. I really don't think we are as far away as most people on the site say we are (based on gut feeling)
  24. I like the Eric Davis comparison thats been thrown out.
