  1. Those are interesting storylines to watch. I think after round 5 of the draft the 2nd position is out the window. The Twins need to choose wisely with the top 5 and think what will get them closer to a world series faster than taking fliers on "toolsy" prospects.
  2. I expect a bounce back year for Mauer. I see no reason why (provided he stays mostly healthy) he couldn't put a .320/.400/.820 year. That puts him number one for me.
  3. Hopefully they take it easy on him this year and get him ready to start next year in Minneapolis. There is nothing worse than rushing a guy back from Tommy John and killing his confidence because he wasn't ready.
  4. Where's Gibson in his rehab? is he going to be of any use this year?
  5. What would be the substitue?
  6. I think people are saying the high end is Pierre and the low end is Tyner. At least that's what I am hoping they are doing.
  7. Agreed. Best part? sensible contract that won't hinder us from other signings moving forward.
  8. Heck, in hindsight who wouldn't take Lester for Santana straight up? At one point if I remember correctly Bucholz and Lester were on the table at the same time.
  9. Getting those numbers batting ninth would be huge.
  10. Everyone has their own opinions and I am willing to bet that Fanatic Jack didn't mean to come off as aggressive as it read. He makes a point that I believe to be valid if the Twins were still playing in the dome.
  11. With the 2nd pick of the draft we are sure to get a nice prospect however its the later picks that separate the men from the boys. Here's hoping that the Twins keep an eye on Alex Wood.
  12. Not everyone is meant to be a utility player. I hope that Doumit is a DH first than Mauer's backup. I hope he catches 2-3 games a week with Mauer switching with him or playing first base.
  13. What Juan Pierre did in his early career was all star level. Check his stats, quite remarkable. If Revere can hit .300 and get on base at .350-.370 and steal 45-60 bases than we all should be jumping for joy. I think it's not totally out of the question.
  14. I'd make reservations at Peter Luger's right now if I were you. The Sox lost everyone, and replaced them with no one.
  15. Here's Baseball America's top 100 http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft/early-draft-preview/2012/2612884.html
  16. 1) The Natural 2) *61 3) Major League 4) Bull Durham 5) Eight Men Out
  17. They should only serve local beer. As well as only local vendors. I am not sure but I think we would be the only park to do that. Plus Surly and Summit are better than Mich Ultra.
  18. Agreed. Pitching to contact is a good philosophy for ground ball pitchers and 4th or 5th starters. The top of the rotation has to be able to make batters miss. During the playoffs every batter is going to be patient and do all the things he should be doing so you need guys who can strikeout the side. Look at the teams that advance in the playoffs and find one that pitches to contact.
  19. Between the two you have to keep Pearce due to his ability to play more than one postion. Poor man's Cuddyer (hopefully)
  20. I like the thought process behind taking Lucas Giolito and his 100mph fastball. It is exactly what the Twins need. If they choose for whatever reason not to go pitching than I hope they go with Correa. Shortstops do not come along so often and we have had a huge hole in that area for a long, long time.
  21. Agreed. The Twins do not have a power hitting team so the park actually favors the Twins.
  22. Amen..... It can't be the same for everyone.
  23. I would go as far to say that's the case for any position. However, I am inclined to think that Revere can raise his OBP to the league average and do some damage on the basepaths. To have a guy who steals 30-40 bases a year makes up for lack of power.
  24. If I remember correctly, didn't we keep Morneau in the minors an extra year to work on his defense? Thats why Dougie Baseball stuck around about a year too long? If fielding your position is a weak link for Parmelee than a full season of both at bats and playing the field is needed.
