88-90, and Straight!

Ruesse has an interesting piece on a conversation he had with some local Korean baseball fans about Park. It included Jack Hannahans appraisal of Korean League pitching. It also included an interesting comparison to how Park performed with his original Korean team, vs the current Nexem one. The article caused me to wonder whether Parks success here will be determined more by the Twins willingness to let the inevitable SO's pile up, vs Parks ability to hit the ball out of the park! The Twins philosophy on this matter seems to have evolved, but also seems to waver from player to player. Regardless it's a fun read.

207k's in 2012-13 to 303 in 2014-15.  Impressive!

Average fastball in Korea is 88 to 90 miles per hour “and straight.”  That explains a lot of the videos I've seen.  He was really teeing up, maybe a little grandstanding.

"Wearing a Tsuyoshi Nishioka jersey, and a stranger sneered at him, “Why don’t you and Nishioka go back where you came from?”

Yun said: “I said, ‘He’s from Japan; I’m from Korea.’ "
