Torii Hunter - Twins 'Ambassador of Quan'

Nothing more than a hunch here, but look for Torii to officially announce soon that he's hanging them up after this season.  I'll bet he immediately steps into a role as Special Assistant to the GM at that time.  With his sons active in college sports, it will allow him the scheduling flexibility to follow them, while performing a variety of duties for the Twins.  They could utilize him as a roving instructor, spokesperson and general goodwill ambassador for the organization.  I believe his ultimate goal is to one day become GM, so entrée into many of those duties, as well.

 

Perhaps he'll prefer a post-playing career in uniform at some point as a coach or manager.  But with the level of financial security he has achieved, I know I'd never want to tie myself down to that kind of travel and time commitment.

I think Torii will want a going away tour season.  I think if he were going to retire after this season by choice, he would have announced it before the season started  And I think he goes to TV whenever he does retire.

Yeah he probably will want a farewell tour. 

 

His offense has fallen off a cliff since a strong 1st half, luckily his defense hasn't been atrocious as past couple seasons so he hasn't been a black hole.

 

Hopefully, the Twins front office is smart enough to see that unless he wants to make a few million playing sparingly off the bench, he doesn't have a role as a player next year on this team. 

 

Arcia, Hicks and Kepler should be up sooner then later. Arcia is out of options, so unless he is traded, he should be the right fielder. I know he's been terrible this year but he just needs some time off to get completely healthy and his head on straight.
