Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Also the place to look for stats influence is not major free agents, the pool is too small. There should be more evidence in the smaller, marginal acquisitions, like Boyer, Stauffer, Robinson, etc. how'd those work out?* *rhetorical......
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 What concerns me is that someone like TR will look at advanced metrics and listen to them only when they agree with what he already thinks. If not, then discard them as inaccurate. If you're using it like that, you might as well not be using it at all. Understand that doesn't mean everything done should always agree with the advanced metrics either and discard a well thought of scout's opinion that differs. I think it is helpful that Goin was TR's admin. asst. before TR "retired". He's been with the club since 2000 so there has to be a level of trust and respect that has developed. I think that may well help to alleviate the concern in your first sentence.
