Trevor Plouffe in the top 25 of SABR Defensive Index

Trevor Plouffe is the only Twin to get any love in the recently-released SABR Defensive Index for the first half of the season. Plouffe is 15th in the AL, however four other third-basemen rank higher.

 

Plouffe is probably not the most interesting topic in this list, but he's our guy, and it's nice to see that his defense makes the numbers light up, at least.

 

Plenty of other data to chew on, such as TB's center fielder Kevin Kiermaier going off the charts.

Since he's 7th in DRS and 8th in UZR for MLB 3bs, the runs effectively defended stat must be pushing his numbers up.  I haven't looked into that too much.  Gonna have to dive into that.

Sorry, you said AL ranking, I looked at his rankings among all 3Bs. He's 5th in the AL in DRS and UZR too. Matches where that list ranks him among AL 3B.

 

What is weird is seeing Beltre lower on that list when Beltre is above him in UZR (3rd) and DRS (2nd).  I look forward to looking into the stat more.  Thanks again.
