Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Lester OliverosDOB: 5-28-88 in Maracay, Aragua, VenezuelaHeight: 6'0"Weight: 235Position: RPBats: RightThrows: RightAcquired: Acquired by the Minnesota Twins with pitcher Cole Nelson from the Detroit Tigers for outfielder Delmon Young on Aug. 16, 2011 2015 statistics (Rochester): 22.2 IP, 1.99 ERA, 13.5 K/9, 3.2 BB/9 (34/8), 1.015 WHIP No reason not to bring him on the 40-man and let him be a middle reliever right now. Stauffer and Duensing are terrible, Graham should be sent to AAA after a trade is worked out, and eventually one would think that Boyer comes down to earth and Fien is traded.Oliveros does not have similar stuff to Anthony Slama. End of discussion.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 Three games started and four games finished for Rochester this year. Weird usage of a guy who could be a good-very good setup man in the majors right now. Oliveros is delivering a 11.3 K/9 rate and 2.7 BB/9 rate. Not sure how this Duensing and Stauffer nonsense continues.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Author Posted June 21, 2015 Oliveros was back in the bullpen tonight after another horrific start (he didn't record an out) on the 12th. Hopefully that is finally done. We'll see how long Blaine Boyer lasts.
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Does anyone know why in the world he was starting? Was it due to a temporary roster situation? Or is it just another bad idea, gone bad? Btw, I have heard about the Twins looking for power arms in the draft.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Reliever stats in 2015: 24 IP, 2.63 ERA, 33 K, 12 BB, and no respect from the Twins.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 Anyone know about Lester's injury status? Is he done for the year?
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 2015 wrap up: 35.2 innings pitched, 3.79 ERA, 46 K, 13 BB, 1.458 WHIP Oliveros suffered an injury that shut him down before a potential return to the Twins. I have to imagine that he tries to sign elsewhere, because he is not going to be respected in this organization.
