terencemann Provisional Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I think my problem with Rosario isn't Rosario himself or what the Twins are doing with him from a developmental stand-point. My problem is that the Twins did not acquire a major leauge caliber center fielder for 2015, meaning a guy capable of playing replacement level baseball as the regular center fielder over the course of the season (or a platoon). If you leave a gaping hole in the roster as large as they did, these things are going to happen. Rosario doesn't belong in the majors at this point and that's on the Twins, imo.
big dog Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I agree with you in principle, but so far (and somewhat to my surprise) Hicks is looking like a better-than-replacement level CF. If I have jinxed him now I will forever be sorry.
Cris E Verified Member Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I think they'll keep Rosario in LF, Arcia at DH and Vargas in AAA until either Buxton or Vargas forces their hand. Then we'll send Rosario down and bring up the one that can't be denied. The improved defense is a huge part of the recent improvement in pitching, which is a huge part of the improvement in record. I think Molitor knows that and is trying to find a polite way of getting it without knocking Arcia's glovework directly. Mike Sixel and dbminn 2
