Reusse: Vavra's experience helps Molitor

Patrick Reusse talked to Joe Vavra, the new Twins bench coach. He talked about his sons, but more interesting, it talks about his role on the coaching staff. I found it rather interesting.

I remember going to a Royal series in Kansas City a few ago when Vavra was still the Twins hitting coach.

The Twins offense was going through a particularly bad steak at that time, and several inebriated Twins' fans were screaming at "Joe Viagra." Hopefully Reusse's article will help everyone in the area to look at Joe in a different light.

Yeah, I thought it was a good. I talked to Vavra like 4-5 years ago, and he is really smart. He knows baseball. He did very well as the Twins hitting coach. He did a nice job as 3B coach. He obviously does  a great job planning out spring training. He also knows the statistical stuff and keeps Molitor updated.

 

He also was kind enough to talk to Nick and I for a few minutes in the clubhouse last Sunday and told us how much he appreciates this site, particularly the minor league coverage.

Good to read that, and alot of info there.  I wondered who set these schedules after Stellie.  It takes a ton of work.

I've always liked Varva and  Morneau and Kubel swore by him and their ml improvement suggested he knew something.  Good for him.
