Brandon Verified Member Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 Also wanted to point out that I thought this would be a pretty solid debate as the Twins keep trying to get the band back together and There was a big debate on whether to tender Nunez a contract or not. That debate is mainly cause he is a terrible defender at SS and other IF positions. Punto is still a good defender and both are not good hitters with Nunez the far superior hitter. Punto hits like Hicks in that he can get on base with a .220 average and no power. Punto will also come with a 500k or so price tag as he is already under contract with the A's. Nunez still has the ability to steal 10-20 bases off the bench so that has value to as a pinch runner. And since this is for the last spot on the roster Either choice will have a minimum impact. I would be curious if the Twins would invite Punto to Spring training as a non-roster invite or sign him outright.
