Shane Victorino

Victorino has one year left on his contract for $13 million. Steamer projects him to be above average both offensively and defensively next year, and the Red Sox have an extremely crowded outfield.  I feel like he could slide into a corner outfield spot on the Twins.  He would certainly help our defense. The Twins might not be interested unless the Sox are willing to eat some salary, but I feel like this type of move would help fix the outfield in the short-term while we wait for our prospects to break into the bigs.

All depends on the nature of the back surgery he had in August and the recovery.  The interviews shortly after the surgery were all happy talk, but it's a 3-6 month recovery so his status might not be clear until close to spring training.  And you never see a player quoted along the lines of "I'll be half the player I was."

I forgot about the back surgery, which obviously is a big deal. But on the surface, he'd be the type of guy I'd like the Twins to bring in. Short term contract, decent on both sides of the ball. If healthy he would really fit the bill. Of course if rumors of FA pursuits are true, sounds like the Sox really want to make a run this year, not sure why they would give him up, money usually isn't an issue for them.
