Kernels pitchers racked up 16 stirkeouts, but gave up 13 hits, in their 7-5 loss. Weird game.

Eades had 8 hits, 2 BB and 0 ground outs. I expected better from a High 2nd Round College pitcher.

Past 2nd Rnd Twins Pitchers:

2011 - Madison Boer

2012 - Mason Melotakis & JT Chargois

2013 - Eades

 

So...maybe I am wrong and I should expect him to struggle.

^^^ The Twins sure do miss on their 2nd round picks. Goes to show signing a free agent who would cost them a 2nd round pick isn't the end of the world.

Probably premature to knock on Eades too much. He was coming off a pretty good start last time out and game time temp in CR last night was at or just below 40 degrees. Yes, these guys need to learn to pitch in the cold at times, but it still was a factor.

I think it's a little early to say they missed on Eades. Lets see where he is in a month. It would be nice if he could dominate right away, but there's a reason he fell to the second round. I generally prefer them taking the high upside guys in the first few rounds, but considering they took Stewart 4th overall last year, I'm willing to give them a little leeway on drafting someone who is considered to be more of a "sure thing". I think he's a guy who once he gets a little bit more familiarity with CR will improve tremendously. He's never been a high K/9 guy so hopefully once the weather warms up he, his numbers will as well.

 

Also, is this finally the year that Levi Michael makes out of Ft. Myers?

I'm didn't like the Eades pick and don't think he will pan out, but it's way too early to play the "I told you so" game. I wouldn't think he's beyond figuring things out.

Michael would make another good story about not giving up on guys too early. Is he still at shortstop and what is his defensive capability?
