Scott Boras New Idea - Panels Decide when a player is ready

Twins Video

Scott Boras, still complaining about Kris Bryant and Addison Russell, thinks a panel should decide if a young player is ready to make the team out of spring training.

Coincidentally, this would benefit Scott Boras.

I think a rule or panel that would make a team give up roster decisions to a third party is...um, far-fetched at best.

I actually think a panel is a good idea.

For example, you could have a 5 person panel consisting of the team's GM, the assistant GM, the team scouting director, and the field managers of both teams, all who contribute input, with the panel to be chaired by the General Manager, who makes the final call.

Boras. What a buffoon.

I like it Hosken.

The other option is you tell Boras, okay.  This panel will decide when a player is ready.  But the panel also gets to decide a players true value on the free agent market.

For example, they would tell they would have set Pelfrey's value at a minor league contract instead of a two year deal for $12M.  Or Jayson Werth, well his value would be more like 3-40 versus 7-120.

This made me laugh.

I propose we start a committee to determine if everyone should now only refer to Scott Boras as "Scooter", because if he's going to come up with silly ideas like this, he should at least be referred to by a silly name.

If Boras truly wants fair then panels should decide MLB readiness and player compensation.  He is only out for himself all the time.  Maybe if he didn't draw such a hard line in the sand about not signing extensions then clubs wouldn't need to do this.  He is his own worst enemy.

How about just no. The player is property of the team. Right or wrong its the teams choice where their players start each season.

How would Boras feel if all the GM's formed their own panel and decided not to sign his clients?

I thought that was his real name. No?

Reading the ESPN article, what Boras wants is Union Shop rules.  Decisions are not left up to the owners or management of the shop.  The Union does.  I'm NOT bashing Unions.  They have had a very important role in our country's history.  I just think they've taken it too far.

Example, Kris Bryant.  What if the Cubs still insist that Bryant needs the extra couple weeks to "work on some stuff"?  What happens?  Would this panel have the authority to force the Cubs to trade Bryant?  Yeah, not happening.  Scott Boras is a brilliant man and a top notch player agent.  And he's playing the MLBPA like a bass fiddle.
