With Greinke gone, time to get a pitcher?

Twins Video

Now that Zack Greinke has signed a $147 million deal with the LA Dodgers, does the log jam begin to unravel?

Maybe I’m way off, but are Sanchez, Jackson and Lohse the next dominoes to fall? If they are, does that take teams that seem to be in on all the talks with FA starters off the market? I keep reading LA Angles, Red Sox and Royals (obviously there are others), if they spend their Monopoly Money and leave the arena, are the Twins better positioned for Marcum, Saunders or Myers?

Still think the Twins will have to trade for a pitcher, does not look like they will sign one at these inflated prices.

wade davis and james shields are off the market as they ended up in K.C.

me thinks the twins are between a rock and a wet spot next year

They have money to spend. Whether they choose to sit down at the table and play is another question...

I couldn't agree with you more. I think the twins are playing this market very well. The Dodgers signing of Ryu and the Royals trading for a pitcher rather than signing a free agent also helps. The Dodgers will now put two starters(Capuano, harang, maybe Lilly) on the market I think the next thing that would help is if the brewers sign Dempster(not marcum). The Angels, Red Sox, Rangers should grab Sanchez, Lohse maybe Edwin Jackson. That leaves the Twins with the money and rotation spots for the Marcum, Saunders, Myers level as you suggested. If you look at the number of starters available and how many teams are looking for free agent starters this market will not stay nearly as high as it has been. It will be Twins time right around Christmas.
