This afternoon, the Twins made their official spring training debut and they came away with a 7-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. This got off to an ominous start for the Twins. I was in Milwaukee a few years back to catch the Twins and Brewers. Slowey was on the mound and the Twins pounded the Brewers staff. Slowey was a professional pitcher. Good pace. Good control. It's hard to believe that another week has gone by and the Twins are one step closer to beginning their 2012 season. The first Grapefruit League action for the Twins will take place on Saturday and it sounds like Joe Mauer, Denard Span, and Justin Morneau could all be available to play. Since the calendar turned to May, Raya has made four starts for Cedar Rapids. He has thrown three scoreless innings in each start. In 12 innings, he's given up 0 runs, 4 hits, 1 BB and 14 strikeouts.
They no longer travel w/the team. Unreal. Ben Wagner does an excellent job on PBP. They have some statistician doing "color," with no discussion of the game -- just overwhelming listener w/stats. Enough. Have to revert to middle innings w/GladMan.
