1991 Offseason in Review

Originally posted at K-Slow was Framed!   YOYOYO everybody! The offseason is upon us and the Twins have a lot of work to do. Coming off of another raging failure, the Front Office will need to pull off some sweet moves in order to make this team a contender. I have no clue what they will do and I have no desire to guess (at least not until later). Instead, I thought it would be fun to head back down Memory Lane and analyze each offseason since the Twins' last World Series. I'm not going to

How to rebuild the Twins...

First what is good about the Twins? 1 Middle infield Florimon and Dozier....No change needed, Florimon needs to hit more but if he doesnt his defense warrants his inclusion   2 3b- Plouffe didnt have great numbers but I think his hitting is passable...we dont have to make a change here...I would like to see Mauer trained to play 3rd...also Mauer in outfield....would be great, can he play center? I wouldnt bet against him..he certainly can be a lead off hitter   3- C -Pinto says it all, but can

October Mailbag!

Originally posted at The Slow   I can't believe that October is upon us! The 2013 season went by so quickly. I am already enjoying playoff baseball and I thought that while I enjoy playoff baseball, I could answer a few questions that have been burning a hole in my inbox. As always, these are actual questions from actual readers of the Word documents that I use to compose my rough drafts.   What is your outlook for the 2014 Twins?   Brad S., St. Paul, MN   Initially, I thought that 2014 would

Season wrap-up

It has been a while since I have written a blog on this site, as I have been almost obsessively following the exploits of the Minnesota Vikings over on the Daily Norseman (and if you are a Vikings fan, head over there. The DN writing staff rivals the one here on Twins Daily). I have been popping in here from time to time, but I have found that following a team that has been losing as much as the Twins is hard on my spirit, so I have for the most part stayed away. Now that the season is over, I t

If I ran MLB baseball in 2015, how I would change baseball.

Bud Selig is leaving as baseballs commissioner at the end of the season in 2014. Good Riddance!!!! I haved spoke about how Bud Selig destroyed some of my modern day baseball. He helped destroy 2 of my favorite baseball players growing up, Jose Canseco and Ken Griffey Jr. I am not going to go into details surrounding those two players, but I thought it would be fun to give me the job for a day and tell you what I would change in the game if I got the chance. Now I don't know all of the deta

New Cast Day

After I received so many responses on my first post, I decided it would be cool to continue updating the Twins Daily community on my progress. Hopefully my journey provides everyone with a little insight into something different in the world of professional baseball.   Today is exactly 13 days post op for me. My wife and I took a short jaunt down Highway 52 to Rochester and the Mayo Clinic. On the docket was a switch from a splint to a hard cast.   We arrived at the 15th floor for my appointment

Right Man for the Job

Just for fun, let’s imagine that you have worked for a company for more than 25 years. Imagine you have been in a very important position within that company for a dozen years. You’ve given your heart and soul, worked hard and dedicated your energies to that company. You may not be the perfect employee. Frankly, for your job, there is no such thing as perfect. However, it’s not an easy job, dealing with personalities and performance of others.   Imagine now that the last three or four projects t

Meh on Gardenhire

I could call it mixed feelings, I could call it being worn down by all the bad news from my favorite team, or maybe it is that I don't think it will make much difference whether Ron Gardenhire was retained. I can't get too worked up about the move. I heard the news and didn't respond. Maybe I'm numb.   About 10 hours later, though, I'm starting to think about the whole process. What did Gardy do to get two more years? In my humble opinion, there was more justification to extend him a year a
