  1. "His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire." Matthew 3:12
  2. Hey, I just remembered that Sano's suspension hearing was supposed to be yesterday. Does anyone know if there is any word?
  3. What is telling is that this was Mauer's second career walk off hit. This is a guy that has been in the middle of the lineup his entire career. You would expect one or two every year.
  4. I'd say more like the last two weeks.
  5. Not sure I want to risk Hughes vs Pedroia for a 4th time.
  6. Someone want to parrot the company line on why Castro started tonight with a lefty on the mound and a day game tomorrow?
  7. Not necesarily. He's only at 85 pitches. Bottom of order is due up. I'd send him back out. He's no more likely to fail than Rogers, Belisle or Pressly IMO.
  8. Is there some reason why the Twins didn't put Buxton on the concussion DL? Is he expected back this weekend?
  9. Minor league numbers aren't apparently something the front office uses to decide who to call up.
  10. Dozier went the other way. I'll call that progess.
  11. Might I direct you to the thread entitled Errors: what's the point" or something like that.
  12. Looks like the strategy is to whack the first pitch in the zone tonight.
  13. He can sit EVERYDAY as far as I'm concerned. Anyone who believes Joe Mauer is still an everyday MLB player hasn't seen him play for two years.
  14. Yeah, too bad most of them are on the DL. Chargois, Reed, Jay, et al.
  15. Mejia has allowed 3 runs and 7 baserunners in 3 IP so far. Probably not going to be him coming up. Edit: 6 runs and 11 baserunners in 4. Haley with 2 Ks in the 5th. Can we officially get the tar and feathers if Mejia is called up next Saturday?
  16. Why is Joe Mauer playing vs a LHP with Vargas on the roster?
  17. Rain just keeps falling in the Rochester area. And pretty much all the Appalachains and upper Ohio Valley too. They've been getting dumped on all week. They were lucky to get two games in on Wednesday.
  18. Assuming they play. The Red Wings have played one day this week because of a persistent weather system that just keeps dumping rain basically all across the Appalachains and Ohio River valley, including the Rochester area.
  19. I mentioned O'Rourke in the same sentence as different options for the bullpen than what is here that are injured. I'm aware how old he is, thank you. No where did I call him (or Buddy Boshers, who I mentioned as well) a "prospect". I'm not even sure I would consider 26 year old Trevor Hildenberger a prospect. They are simply guys who, if all were healthy, IMO would be better than some of the bullpen arms the Twins have now. And I'm still on the fence with Hildenberger.
  20. Are you sure Baxendale is even healthy? He's not on the DL, but he's pitched two innings in the last two weeks and none in the last week. Despite Rochester playing a double header in that span.
  21. On the plus side for Rucinski, he has struck out 13 in 10 1/3 IP, against just 2 BB. On the downside, he's given up 11 hits, including 2 HR. His K rate this year whiffs of sample size outlier, because his K per 9 in his last two seasons at AAA is just under 7. He will give up his share of HR though. 37 allowed in 270 IP at AAA. Granted, that's the mostly rarefied air of the PCL, but as I said, he'll give up his share.
