  1. But at the expense of whom? His having success at the MLB level this year is dependant on the failure or injury of Rosario, Buxton or Kepler (well, I suppose Grossman or Mauer too).
  2. The Twins might start Kepler at first and put Granite in RF. It's not like the Twins to call a younger guy up and not play him.
  3. If that's the case, it should be pretty easy for Twins evaluators to see that in his appearances for AAA Rochester.
  4. He's the same age as Brad Radke, who retired 10 years ago... Scratch that. 11 years ago.
  5. Twins relievers needed 42 pitches to complete the final 4 innings. Rogers needed just 4 in his inning. Wow. Talk about mailing it in.
  6. It would make sense. Jorge probably wouldn't start agsin (even if he remains in the rotation) until the 5th game after the break. That's way more than 10 days ftom now. Wouldn't be surprised to see Hildenberger go down too. Maybe for Gee or Turley. Hildenberger wouldn't likely be used tomorrow or Sunday.
  7. With his speed, Buxton should have no problem maintaining a BABIP north of .350.
  8. The Twins were the final stop on Jesse Orosco's long train ride as well.
  9. Since Mauer did not appear in the last two games he would be eligible to return Saturday after the Break, or the second game after the Break.
  10. Sano nearly got voted in to start. Clearly fans know who he is. I find it funny that Minute Maid Park is now considered pitcher friendly. Did they do something to change it? When it opened it was officially called Enron Field, but derisively called "Ten Run" or Homerun" Field. I suspect the change in it's factor has more to do with an improved pitching staff.
  11. I don't know enough about hitting to make an informed analysis, but in my "fan's view" I would say it is not so much a flaw and more like being really bad at pitch recognition. Is that part of being inexperienced? Probably. After all, lots of guys have leg kicks (and other motions) and do just fine. Clearly it is an approach that can be successful at the MLB level. But what eliminating it does for Buxton is give him that extra split second to see the pitch and have a better chance to do something with it. Perhaps with experience and better pitch recognition, he'll go back to it someday. But what it does in the short term is turn him from a near automatic out into a useful MLB hitter. Quite frankly, that's all he needs to be for the next couple years. Useful. Impactful hopefully in the future.
  12. The article was written June 29. I would presume the change took place that same time. Since then he's hitting over .300 and struck out just 5 times in 26 plate appearance. That is progress.
  13. Devotion. Turning all the night time into the day He do the song about the sweet lovin woman He do the song about the knife He do the walk, do the walk of life Yeah, he do the walk of life
  14. Yeah, I could see why this guy might be hard to hit.
  15. Duffey clearly is not as sharp as April and May. Could be workload. Over 40 relief IP already. Kind of a lot. Not a ton. But for a guy who's been a starter the last 5 years it is.
  16. Yeah, Buxton sure looks broken. Sometimes people think they know everything about this game. In my experience, no one does. An approach that doesn't work for some does wonders for others.
  17. The Twins are a Polanco double away from knocking Bundy out.
  18. Umm, that was Grossman. Nevermind. You probably were pointing out that he still hasn't.
  19. Wow. What a dumb throw. Too bad they can't charge mental errors.
  20. Even though it is television, you do kinda need a play by play guy, which is what Bremer is.
